Not a bad idea. Each student contributes what he can and if there are say 20 or 30 students it sums up to a good amount.

Teacher gets SUV as gift from former students
Rich tributes paid to teacher at colourful reception
High school alumni in Buraydah in north central Saudi Arabia have feted their former teacher of Arabic at a special reception to pay tribute to his dedication and devotion.
The former students who graduated from the King Abdul Aziz high school 30 years ago attended the evening wearing the uniforms and clothes they usually wear at work, giving the reception a special look.
Some of the former students now working in the private and public sectors wore the traditional Saudi thobe (kandura), while others donned the military uniform, the engineer’s coveralls and hat, and the doctor’s apron. Some of the former students arrived on wheelchairs, local daily Makkah reported on Monday.
The alumni offered several gifts to their former teacher in a demonstration of their gratitude to his role in enhancing their learning acquisition skills and in shaping their lives.
The largest gift from the students was a 2015 Ford Expedition sports utility vehicle (SUV), the daily said.
Officials from the education district were also present at the reception.
Internet users hailed the gratitude of the former students as “an outstanding tribute to a dedicated and hard-working teacher” and thanked the students for hosting the reception.
Offering cars in recognition of special relations is quite common in Saudi Arabia.
In 2014, a Saudi woman offered her husband a new car on the anniversary of their wedding.
The elated wife decorated the Toyota Prado with flowers and posted several messages that expressed her deep love for him.
“Because you are the love that I live for, because you are the soul with which I want to stay, because you are my passion and love, I tell you from every fibre in my heart: May God protect our love. Please do accept this simple gift from me,” the wife wrote on a poster that she decorated with red and white roses and left on the car shield.
In May 2013, a Saudi scouter was offered a 2013 Land Cruiser by his wife at a reception to mark his retirement after decades of services.
Mohammad Bin Saad Al Omari’s wife said that the gift was in appreciation of her husband’s “distinguished role in raising their children and his outstanding services to local scouts and to Saudi Arabia”.
The reception in Al Mekhwat in western Saudi Arabia was hosted by fellow scouters to express their gratitude to Al Omari following 38 years of service.
In August 2013, a Saudi actor gave a Bentley car to a boy who lost his parents and two sisters in a horrific car crash.
Fayez Al Maliki was at a hospital and decided to visit Yousuf Al Ansari after he heard the 15-year-old boy was the sole survivor of the crash in which his family was killed. The family was heading towards the Saudi capital Riyadh when the tragedy happened.
During the conversation, Al Maliki, seeking to ease Yousuf’s pain, asked him if he needed anything.
The teenager said that he wanted the Bentley car that the actor had received as a gift from Saudi business tycoon Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal.
Al Maliki agreed and told him he could contact the agency and take the car, estimated to cost 800,000 Saudi riyals (Dh783,600), explaining that it was still with them.
However, Yousuf protested, saying that he was only joking with the actor.
“No, you take it,” Al Maliki said. “It was a gift to me from a generous man and since you are a generous young man, I am offering it to you,” the actor reportedly said. “It makes me really happy to see you smile.”
