1. Qasim Rizvi and Mir Laik Ali had raised the Razakars / volunteers in Hyderabad to face the impending Indian invasion. During 1971 War, Ansars and Mujahids had disappeared leaving a weak police without any auxiliary support. Thus the Razakars were raised. In BD Razakar has become a derogatory term to refer to a quisling/ collaborator with anti-nation elements.
2. Sheikh's struggle throughout his life had been democratic. He wanted a sovereign BD to be established peacefully with an understanding with the west wing. His prediction that any UDI or hasty step would throw us in the lap of India has turned out to be true. Lately he had become aware of RAW's infiltration into the youth wing of his party. But he was totally helpless to do anything about. As such he had sought help from GOC 14 Div. Sheikh was a Muslim Bengalee nationalist who was quite conscious of the importance of BD in the Muslim world and the crucial need for maintaining a strong link to the Ummah.
3. Upon return to BD,his nephew Sheikh Moni would often call him a Razakar in the presence of others for refusing to flee joining the militant student group.Moni was the leader/commander of BLF/Mujib Bahini which was raised under RAW officer Uban Singh without the knowledge of Tajuddin or Osmani. Even Gen Arora was unhappy about the existence of this political force outside his command. Moni was the future compliant leader RAW was building up.
