Tank and armored vehicle protection system

What do you think, are China and Russia working on it?

My flash is not updated so i don't know what the video is about. But if you are talking about the active protection system, Russia has been working on it since the 1970s. Today they have the Arena system, perhaps there is something newer.

There are anti-APS rockets and missiles. Trophy isn't effective against vertical missiles or from slant angles.

As Russia has started a long ago, can it be used against incoming missiles to host air craft and helicopters..? basically has Russia tested weapons like this?

I don't know if anything similar is being developed for aircraft but the challenge would be dealing with the timing of the detonator in relation to the incoming threat. In other words an aircraft has boundary layer airflow that would make it difficult to accurately destroy an incoming threat because the device the detonates incoming threats is literally ejected towards the incoming threat.

I think projecting the device is not a problem as it can be given a lead angle to the desired path. However, I think it would engage incoming threat so near to the aircraft that it is useless for such ise. "Active" means i think 'own its own' and for aircraft 'active' would really mean a missile launch to destroy another missile with its own on board computer/system.

News Room
Dulles, Virginia, 24 February 2015 -- Orbital ATK, Inc. (NYSE: OA), a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, performed a live-fire demonstration of a key element of its Helicopter Active Protection System (HAPS). The HAPS Kill Vehicle (KV) was able to launch, perform pitch maneuvers and fly to a detonation point that simulated the location of an incoming rocket-propelled grenade (RPG). The demonstration is a valuable step toward a solution for the RPG threat to helicopters flying missions in dangerous areas.
Helicopters are vulnerable to damage from RPGs because the aircraft often hovers in position at low altitude, making it easy to target by an enemy on the ground. HAPS is designed to identify an incoming threat, launch and guide a KV to a precise location and detonate a warhead at a point where the RPG is rendered ineffective. All of this is designed to occur within a fraction of a second and far enough away from the helicopter to ensure the crew and aircraft are not harmed by metal fragments from the destroyed RPG.

The live-fire demonstration was designed to prove-out launch from a fixed ALE-47 Countermeasures Dispense System, off-axis pitch maneuvers of the KV and controlled flight of the KV to an impact point. The test flights successfully demonstrated these attributes and validated a number of HAPS components, including the KV launch cartridge, KV divert and attitude thrusters, non-linear guidance and control algorithms, and the fast-sync wireless command guidance link.

None is operational.

Its effective.

The German AMAP-ADS is best. It's faster, lighter and cheaper to maintain.
AMAP-ADS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
AMAP-ADS is very primitive and crude system. Its just basically a big box that explodes:

Huge collateral damage, very bulky, zero elevation angles, no situation awareness, no threat launching point detection.

Plus Trophy is the only deployed and only combat proven APS in the world.

There are Javelin and HJ-12, both coming from vertical angles, not to mention RPG's and missiles fired from hilltops and top of buildings.
None of it absolutely vertical. Here Javelin attack:

Obviously it can be easily intercepted by Trophy:

Also, missiles with a decoy round can activate the APS and the actual warhead is delayed between 0.2-0.4, thus striking the target, aka tank. RPG-30 is an example.
No single army in the world has RPG-30 deployed and u can also program Trophy so it will ignore the decoy.
