The Taliban warned the United States not to “destabilise” the regime during their first face-to-face talks since the US withdrawal, its foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said on Saturday.

“We clearly told them that trying to destabilise the government in Afghanistan is good for no one,” Muttaqi told the Afghan state news agency Bakhar, in a recorded statement.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen had this to say.

Taliban have clearly said that there will be no cooperation with US in fight against ISKP. This is a very smart move. They want to own the war against ISKP and not make it a US funded war. This gives them more legitimacy. The one thing the countries should do is release funds and allow trade.

this is exactly what the Americans planning.
they want chaos, resentment and civil war inside Afghanistan so that the population gets fed up due to sanctions, lack of food and money. Americans have frozen the money of state of Afghanistan and stopped all international banking transactions.
Only China, Russia and some Middle Eastern countries like Qatar have the economic and political strength to stand up to the Americans and stop Afghanistan from descending into chaos. Pakistan despite its best efforts is weak economically and politically it faces threats in the shape of FATF, IMF and American blacklisting through its Bills in the senate. sending over some trucks of rice and wheat and clothes cant resolve the problems of Afghanistan.
the country needs recognition and constant trade and access to keep its population fed and healthy and pay the workforce.

But to create a trading relationship without implementing policies (such as Women’s ability to go to work and school) will make any country that trades with them lose face (this includes China).

With western countries, for the time being, non-interference and access to the global banking system as well as Aid organizations being allowed to function in the country is the best they can hope for.

For trade the best the Afghans can expect in at least the short term will be trade with the neighbors and regional nations, especially if they can get their mining sector up and running. They should be prepared to spend at least a few years out in the “proverbial cold”.

Russia and China would follow their interests rather than curbing US out. In past, these clawed enemies have been seeing cooperating with each other when it comes to mutual interests. Qatar, its just a rich worthless western puppy that already played it's role in destroying other countries with the help of US.

Taliban defeated US as per Pakistanis, how can they destabilize.

At this point, it is logical to assume that America does not care for Taliban and Afghanistan one way or the other. The Western powers are however worried about ISIS group in Afghanistan. US will want to drop bombs on this group to make sure the it does not establish a foot hold in the region.

America holds the money that belongs to Afghanistan as a short term leverage. I expect this money to be returned to Afghanistan, but it cannot happen when the memories of Afghan war is still fresh in the mind of American public and military establishment.

when it comes to Daesh I ask myself how did this organisation come into Afghanistan during a Pro US govt was in power in Kabul and the American occupation forces were conducting regular drone strikes on Afghanistan population. and then I am reminded about the allegations of former president Ghani that American helicopters ferried the Daesh terrorists into different parts of Afghanistan.

Daesh that is sworn enemy of Iran and Pakistan and Afghanistan on ideological bases and has conducted some horrific terror attacks. on one hand the allegations of former American ally and on the other hand this proxy being mortal enemy of States of Pakistan and Iran and Afghan taliban as well.. is America really interested in destroying Daesh or is it a useful; enemy of my enemy for USA?

Good point about the origins of ISIS. To the best of my reading so far, it seems to be funded by hardline elements from the middle east.

I do not think that America has anything to do with ISIS regardless of what the erstwhile Afghan President had to say. US killed the ISIS leader and more recently suffered in a horrific suicide attack by the group.

your tali-bunnies vs. the US are equivalent of bharatis vs. the Chinese. sniveling and begging in meeting and bragging in the open.

oops, someone else is bragging on tali's behalf. what Mr Muttaqi actually told reporters was that he "wanted to improve relations with the international community but also warned that nobody should interfere with any country's internal policies."

"Speaking after the talks with the US opened in Qatar, Afghanistan's Taliban-appointed Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said the two sides had agreed to uphold the terms of the Doha agreement signed in 2020.

Mr Muttaqi said US officials had also told the Taliban they would help in delivering Covid vaccines and humanitarian aid."

Afghanistan is on the verge of famine, and Afghans need a stable govt more than ever. Any external forces trying to destabilize Afghanistan are committing crimes against humanity.

ISIS is a bit like Taimurlane= a Muslim who almost exclusively targeted Muslim regions/empires for his attacks

-Talibs stay in Afghanistan as it's an emirate
-Al-Qaeeda hurt foreign entities, they can do other things but this is thier core ideology
-ISIS is a caliphate meaning thier core job is to bring thier rule throughout the Muslim world
So thier targets are almost exclusively muslims

I feel this is the reason that we're seeing these conspiracies of ISIS being a secret American proxy (honestly I don't think we should completely dismiss that ISIS was probably helped by the US in some ways atleast in the beginning)

Mate they killed over 3 million people during this WOT, only to paint themselves as saviors of mankind

You really think they gave a crap about crimes against humanity?

Yes but at this stage demanding them to include women and make the rules relaxed can be counter productive. Their Hardline foot soldiers might go n join ISKP. The US dealt with saudi and they didnt even allow women to drive. All this women rights the west shouts is hypocrisy and excuses.

That’s true about US-Saudi Relations. The issue of greatest importance to Afghans, more so then “stability” is domestic legitimacy. Push comes to shove, they will earn money however they can, but if they lose the support of the people, then anything else’s they do won’t matter, as all the more liberal governments of the past 40-50 years have faced. They will just have to find a way to get by and become unified and secure enough that foreign investors come in an extract their natural resources, similar to the Saudi model.

This is why foreign government hoping to Mine in Afghanistan will probably eventually end up giving non-lethal electronic equipment to allow the Talibs to detect and hunt down ISIS and groups like it. Talibs have all the weapons they need via a vi ANA stocks, especially if they can get those Mi-17 and AH-6 helicopters up and running.
