Imran Khan’s statement had come after the veteran Bollywood actor had expressed concern over mob violence in India following the killing of a policeman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr earlier this month.

A day after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he would show the Narendra Modi government “how to treat minorities”, Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah responded saying that he shouldn’t be commenting on issues that don’t concern him.

“I think Mr Khan should be walking the talk in his own country instead of commenting on issues that don’t concern him. We have been a democracy for 70 years and we know how to look after ourselves,” Naseeruddin Shah told the Sunday Express.

Imran Khan’s statement had come after the veteran Bollywood actor had expressed concern over mob violence in India following the killing of a policeman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr earlier this month.

Khan had said, “We will show the Modi government how to treat minorities... Even in India, people are saying that minorities are not being treated as equal citizens,” he said referring to Shah’s statement, while emphasising that his government will ensure that the minorities feel safe, protected and have equal rights in ‘New Pakistan’. Khan said this while addressing an event to highlight the 100-day achievements of the Punjab government in Lahore

“It will be very difficult to capture this djinn back into the bottle again. There is complete impunity for those who take law into their own hands...I feel anxious for my children because tomorrow if a mob surrounds them and asks, ‘Are you a Hindu or a Muslim?’ they will have no answer. It worries me that I don’t see the situation improving anytime soon,” Shah added.

That is precisely what Imran has sought to do.

Imran Khan said he will walk the talk, and will minorities a matter of precedence for him.

Truth of the matter is Naseerudin pointed out to a factual problem,
and we will see in coming days, how Indian establishment will try to remediate it.

Naseeruddin Shah puts Imran Khan in his place, says take care of Pakistan

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah slammed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, asking him to be concerned about the matters of his own country and not to interfere in India’s business. Shah said India has been a democracy for 70 years and knows how to look after herself.

“I think Mr Khan should be walking the talk in his own country instead of commenting on issues that don’t concern him. We have been a democracy for 70 years and we know how to look after ourselves,” Shah said.

This came after Khan drew parallels between Shah's recent comments to Muhammad Ali Jinnah's beliefs.

"I read what Naseeruddin Shah had to say about the current situation of India, what he is saying now, Jinnah said the same all those years ago," Khan had said.

Khan on Saturday said he will "show" the Narendra Modi government "how to treat minorities", amidst controversy over Shah's remarks on mob violence in India.

Shah is right on both counts. There is an emboldened Sanghi clan which thinks it can bully minorities and Indians who don't agree with their saffron world view.

It is ridiculous of Imran Khan to comment given his country's track record of treating minorities.

Not really. I'm also a minority in the cross hairs of both colored chaddis.

End of the day we fight to live on our land as equals.

Not second class citizens.

Otherwise we would have accepted Islam peacefully with love in our hearts like so many millions of our brethren in Iran.

And stayed there.

Eating crappy rice and mutton with rashers of boiled carrots and black raisins and calling everyone gay Jaan.

Cheers, Doc
