16x cell SAM VLS and only 1x CIWS on a 6500 tonne ship is a joke.
Frigate 115 has a good package though.

6.000-6.700 tonnes French-İtalian FREMM Frigate also with 16x cell VLS for 16x ASTER-15 SAMs and without CIWS

-- 16 x ASTER-15 SAMs
-- 8 x EXOCET anti-ship Missiles

on the other hand , Turkish design 3.000 and 6.500 tonnes Frigate with 16x cell VLS for 64x ESSM SAMs ... ( quad-pack with 4 missiles in one canister )

-- 64 x ESSM SAMs
-- 16 x ATMACA anti-ship Missiles
-- 1 x GOKDENIZ 35 mm CIWS

1 Turkish Frigate = 4 French Frigates in fire power

Turkish Navy Frigates are superior to French-İtalian Frigates in fire power

even 7.400 tonnes İndian KOLKATA class Destroyer armed with 32 x Barak-8 SAMs

but still we would prefer 32 x VLS for 140m Frigate ( 64x HISAR-O and 16 x SIPER SAMs ) Ship point and local - wide area defence missions

even if needed , 32 x HISAR-O and 8 x SIPER SAMs and 16 x GEZGIN land attack Cruise Missiles

I mean it's not that bad. Of course, it is not good as Hobart Class destroyer or Hunter-class frigate, but this seems like a decent deal for those can't afford more expensive ships. Though, I believe even Asian countries already offer pretty competitve packages (Type 054A frigate from China, Mogami-class Frigate from Japan and Daegu-Class from Korea) and they have somewhat enjoyed export success (though it is yet to see if Indonesia actually orders Mogami-class from Japan).

Huh, I have always thought FREMM-class has 32 cells (16 + 16).

I have always thought FREMM-class has 32 cells (16 + 16).

Egypt bought French FREMM Frigate with 16 cells VLS for 16 ASTER-15 SAMs

Italian FREMM Frigates also with 16 cells VLS for 16 ASTER-15/30 SAMs

Yes French FREMM Frigates with 2 x 16 cells VLS for 32x ASTER-15/30 SAMs or 16x ASTER-15/30 SAMs and 16x SCALP naval cruise missiles

FIRE POWER COMPARISON

Glad that I remember correctly that FREMM-class frigate can accomdate up to 32 cells, not 16 cells. You might want to load more SM-2 rather than ESSM as Aster-30 is more comparable with SM-2 and I would take 32 Aster-30 over 64 ESSM anyday.

And it is not like FREMM-design cannot adopt Amerian VLS system either. The Constellation-class frigate is based on FREMM and it is also expected to have 32 cells (+ 16 Anti-ship missiles) that could be loaded with American anti-aircraft missiles such as ESSM.

So is it a bit underwhelming for a latest 6500~7000 tonnes Frigate / Destroyer to have only 16 cells? Maybe. Certainly, the spec-wise Turkey's Frigate 140 is not the best in the class, but it is not that bad. After all, all navies have different priorities & budgets.

For instance, the Carlo Bergamini class (Italian FREMM ship) has double hanger for two medium-sized multi-role helicopters (namely NH90).

ASTER-30 is for wide area defence against Fighter Jets
ESSM is for Ship point and local area defence against anti-ship Missile

and 120 km ASTER-30 can not stop Turkish F-16s which armed with 280 km SOM-C anti-ship Missile
but ASTER-30 block-1NT to intercept Ballistic missiles up to 1.500 km

on the other hand , ESSM is designed to intercept even supersonic anti-ship Missiles like KH-31 , BRAHMOS

I would take 64 ESSM to protect $500 million Frigate from anti-ship missiles

for example

6.700 tonnes Italian FREMM with 16 cells VLS for 16 SAMs ( 8 ASTER-15 + 8 ASTER-30 )

Turkish Frigate with 16 cells VLS for 64 SAMs ( 64 ESSM or HISAR-O ) or 24 ESSM + 10 SM-2 or SIPER

.
Imagine if the PN selects one of these designs for the '6 large tonnage ships', but asks TAIS to kill its deal with India. The PN would go down as a hero for the ages on this forum.

Pakistan doesn have vast sea territory and will likely be still able to withstand the war against India under Sea blockade as resuplays can come from China/Iran/Aghanistan

Indonesia keep buying this effective ship from local shipyard to protect our sea territory. We have 40 meter and 60 meter ships

Turkey's Frigate 140 is for ASUW mission to hunt enemy Vessels

Frigate 140 armed with 16 x ATMACA anti-ship missiles ... ( French FREMM Frigate armed with 8 x EXOCET anti-ship missiles )

also Frigate 140 has great defense capability against anti-ship missiles

-- 64 x SAMs
-- 1 x 35 mm CIWS with airburst ammunition

French FREMM Frigate ... ( 32 x SAMs , without CIWS )
Italian FREMM Frigate ... ( 16 x SAMs , without CIWS )

İf we are talking about AAW mission , then 7.000 tons Turkish TF-2000 class Destroyer project

64 cells VLS

-- 64x ESSM or HISAR-O SAMs
-- 32x SM-2 or SIPER SAMs
-- 16x GEZGIN land attack Cruise Missiles or more 16 SM-2 or SIPER SAMs

and 16x ATMACA anti-ship Missiles

on the other hand , 7000 tons French HORIZON class Destroyer with 48 cells VLS

-- 48 SAMs ( mix of ASTER-15 and ASTER-30 )

and 8x EXOCET anti-ship Missiles

so Turkish Frigate/Destroyer projects are superior to French/Italian Frigates/Destroyers

not all FREMM Frigates with 32 cells VLS

The point is the design could accomdate up to 32 VLS cells and French VLS could be loaded not only Aster-15, but also Aster-30 which is superior than ESSM in intercepting fighter jets, missiles and drones for having an almost twice longer range.

Whatever ESSM could do, Aster-30 could do it better.

In fact, the Constellation class proves that the FREMM-design allows 32 American VLS cells on the ship, which means the FREMM-design could be also equipped with EMMS and other American missiles.

I really don't understand what you are trying to prove here.

İf we are talking about AAW mission , then 7.000 tons Turkish TF-2000 class Destroyer project
64 cells VLS

That's cute. The Kongo-class from 90's has 90 VLS cells. The Arleigh Burke class has 90+ VLS cells. Hell, the Sejong-class has 80 + 48 VLS cells. Those ships also benefit the Aegis Combat system as well.

Italian FREMM Frigate ... ( 16 x SAMs , without CIWS )

The Carlo Bergamini-class frigate actually does have a CIWS (OTO Melara 76/62 mm).

Again, all navies have different priorities & budgets. I won't say which design is "superior", but a 6,500~7000 tons frigate of having only 16 cells does seem lacklustre...at least to me.

its possible to load SM-2 to Turkish Frigate-140

16 cells VLS for 24x ESSM and 10x SM-2 ..... total of 34x SAMs to compare with 32x SAMs on FREMM Frigate

btw Turkey develops SIPER long range SAM which is similar to ASTER-30

and Turkish Frigate-140 carry 16x anti-ship missiles , French FREMM Frigate carry only 8x anti-ship missiles

76mm ? İts main naval gun

but Turkish Frigate-140 has both 76mm main naval gun and 35mm CIWS

Yes , I dont understand why Egyptian Navy FREMM Frigate with 16 cells VLS for 16 ASTER-15 SAMs
also I dont understand why Italian Navy FREMM Frigate with 16 cells VLS for 16 ASTER-15/30 SAMs

Turkish design 3.000 tons Frigate-115 with 16 cells VLS ... its ok

but 6.500 tons Frigate-140 can be equipped with 32 cells VLS
