Promising multi-role fighter T-50 was created in the framework of "Sukhoi PAK FA" (PAK FA). Development of the aircraft began in EDO im.P.O.Suhogo at the end of the 1990s. Announced in April-May 2001 call for proposals under the program PAK FA was won in 2002, the project fighter T-50. The chief designer of aircraft - A.Davidenko. Full-scale design T-50 began after the defense of conceptual design in 2004.
Production of the series of T-50 prototype began at the plant KnAAPO (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) in late 2006. The first flight of the prototype T-50-1 made January 29, 2010 at the airport Dzemgi in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The program is the first phase of testing PAK FA began April 29, 2010 on the basis of FRI in Zhukovsky (Moscow region), and the adoption of aircraft into service and admission to the Air Force combat units is planned for 2013-2016 (According to the plans of different years).
Special thanks to the site "stealth machine" and personally paralay ( http://paralay.com ) for his contribution to the collection and analysis of information on the PAK FA, as well as for the wonderful graphics.

History of creation : Sukhoi PAK FA (PAK FA), the fifth generation was created in the framework of the I-21 (program) as a fighter T-50 (the name of the prototype). Purpose - multifunctional multi-role fighter. Development of the aircraft began OKB im.P.O.Suhogo the end of the 1990s. In April-May 2001, the program I-21 / PAK FA tender was attended by Sukhoi OKB MiG interaction with both KB with Yakovlev on study draft of vertical take-off. The decision of the State Commission on the results of competition made in early 2002 - the project won the T-50 aircraft Sukhoi (chief designer - A.Davidenko) as the least risky to implement and fully satisfying tactical and technical requirements. In June 2002, the government approved the decision of the Commission's decision, requested to prepare a comprehensive program for the target and begin schematic design. Tactical and technical requirements issued by the Russian Defense Ministry in July 2002. The preliminary design T-50 is completed in the bureau in November 2004 and approved by the Russian Ministry of Defense in December 2004 has begun experiments on research aircraft. Electronic model T-50 (probably build a computer model of the aircraft) demonstrated Russian Air Force Commander V. Mikhailov no later than January 2005. By 2005, released the name of T-50 and I-21 and announced the possible protection of the technical design of the aircraft in 2006 . By the beginning of 2006, the layout of the airframe was blowing in the wind tunnel.
Production of structurally-similar samples T-50-0 (T-50-PAC) started on KnAAPO (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) in November 2006. In April 2007, the leadership of the Air Force approved the layout of the T-50, being issue of design documentation. In August 2008, the development of a set of design documentation is complete, the drawings submitted for KnAAPO for the manufacture of a pilot batch of T-50. Assembling an experimental batch of prototypes of flight (T-50 and T-SOS-50-1) started in December 2007 and continued in 2008. As of June 1, 2009 completed the assembly of T-50-0 is intended for static tests, being assembled aircraft flight test series (T-50 and T-SOS-50-1). As of August 20, 2009 created two or three technical sample T-50 (1-2 T-50-PAC and one T-50-CND) for ground testing and assembly conducted the first flight of the prototype T-50-1.
Testing : December 24, 2009 at the airfield Dzemgi (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) first run made one of two prototypes of the first series of I-21 - T-50 CND. January 16, 2010 aircraft flying laboratory T-10M-10 board №710 from 14-28 to 14-54 Moscow time on the airfield in Zhukovsky Flight Research Institute made the first high-speed taxiing with the prototype engine T-50 - "Article 117", and 21 January plane flying laboratory T-10M-10 made its first flight with the engine "article 117".January 22 T-50-1 made a run for the runway KnAAPO Dzemgi with raising the nose landing gear into the air and release the brake parachute. And finally, January 29, 2010 in 11-19 local time pilot Sergei Bogdan made its first flight on the T-50-1 duration of 47 minutes (detailed chronology - See below. ). The second flight of the T-50-1 in camouflage coloring the Russian Air Force was held 12.02.2010 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Apart from the first flight was originally supposed to Komsomolsk-on-Amur make another 2-7 flights (according to various sources) and then the first prototype should arrive at the airport Proud (LII Air Force base in Zhukovsky).
