'We sent them [PYD] armaments, because they are Syrian citizens, and they want to fight terrorism,' Assad tells British daily
In remarks made during a special interview with the British daily, The Sunday Times, Assad was quoted as saying: “We sent them [PYD] armaments, because they are Syrian citizens, and they want to fight terrorism”.
According to the full text of the interview, which was also published by Syria's official news agency later, Assad said the regime had documents to prove its support for armed groups such as the PYD.
“The Kurds are fighting the terrorists with the Syrian army, in the same areas... [They are supported] mainly by the Syrian army, and we have the documents.
“We sent them armaments, because they are Syrian citizens, and they want to fight terrorism.''

''Turkish PM: Syrian regime, Daesh, PKK made deal against opposition
Davutoglu says terrorist organizations agreed with Assad regime on sharing Turkish border
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said that the Syrian regime, Daesh and the PKK made an agreement in May to attack the anti-Assad opposition forces and share Turkey's border with Syria.
"Daesh, PKK and the [Syrian] regime sat around a table on May 28 in Hasakah [in northeastern Syria] and reached an agreement to attack the opposition," he told a live interview on private Show TV channel on Wednesday.
Davutoglu stressed that Daesh and the PYD, or the Syrian Democratic Union Party, also agreed with the regime of Bashar al-Assad during that meeting to share the Turkish border.
PYD is a Syrian-based affiliate of the PKK – considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.
"The reason we did not shoot PYD is not its innocence; we will do it if required. We will do what is necessary for Turkey's safety," Davutoglu said.
His remarks closely followed the summoning of American and Russian ambassadors to the Turkish Foreign Ministry''
