Well I partially agree. History is important that helps in national identity and nations with glorious pasts are mostly ambitious.

But for the other part, I don't know of any country which is taken more seriously than US and Russia through out the post WWII era and until now! The whole world went bi-polar, countries risking their existance in some cases and entire strategic planing built around the camp they joined!

As for the other countries you mentioned they have near zero relevance in international affairs.
