Sweden Stayed Away from Lockdown and Achieved Herd Immunity

I don't want to depress you people or scare you. Here is my 2 cents.
Yes some countries are trying to gain heard immunity. Those countries who are trying for heard immunity will never openly admit cause letting infection spread on purpose and admitting to it is in no ones favor politically. Heard immunity seems like a massacre of masses but it also seems a correct way forward and still there is one more thing that suggests that heard immunity is not a good option.

If we look at the number of covid19 strains it suggests that this virus mutates very quick so if you are immune to this virus still the next mutation will kill you. Vaccine is a good way forward but if it mutates again that vaccine will be useless. At least of all humanity some one should also work on an anti viral drug as well.

Its not going well, their mortality rate is high, though their ppl are more aware and follow guidelines.

I don't understand this herd immunity argument. Though I hear it from many good people, so I must be missing something. As of right now, according to arcgis John Hopkins the data is :

and keep in mind a few things :

1) population of Sweden is 10M and that of the US is 321M. Lot less dense compared to NY or NJ
2) scientists are JUST learning how the virus actually works to kill inside the body - ventilators touted as the great saviors might actually been the death sentence in many to most! This one factor (just my suspicion) has contributed to the death rate in the US.

Meaning, I just don't see what it is people are seeing in the numbers to say Sweden is accomplising anything different? (just want to understand what I am missing)

Going by those numbers 600,000 cases and ~2500 deaths
the death rate is ~0.4 that means one in 2000 affected people died. Thats way way less than the original estimates.

If your immune system is capable to create antibodies for one strain it highly likely it does for other strains as well apart from exceptions.

One of my cousins who live and work there as a GP has been infected twice by two different strains of COVID-19. In relation to other Scandinavian states, Sweden has recorded the highest mortality rate and the positive affects of herd immunity are yet be determined.

compare them to germany and if you compare than you should remember to multiply by 7 (10million ppl versuch 80 million in germany) and take into account that they are a bigger country so you need to add some percentage more as death rate

total numbers are nothing and not a big deal! its like a town with 20k ppl 15k died compared to a town with 150k ppl where 20k died wich has been affected more? also something to compare is how many young people live there how many old people?

germany 80million ppl and 357 km²

sweden 10 million people and 447 km²

2.194 dead in sweden multiplied by 7 = 15.358‬

taking the size of their country into account could make it even bigger (you know 7times less people living in a wider country (>20%))

yes we cant compare the two countries mentality, traditions, living standards, healthcare system all depends on this and could be taken into account

I agree that they are not even close to "herd- immunity" as so many more Swedes will have died otherwise.

We also have no idea how protected someone is from getting coronavirus again after they get it again and so the idea of "herd immunity" without a vaccine may be incorrect anyway.

What Sweden has demonstrated is that the more severe "lockdowns" seen in most other European countries may not have made much difference to the overall spread of the disease.

still we have to consider to calculate the death toll by size of country and population.. and there sweden has not a good percentage
