Which one would rate as more superior?? The advance stealth strike fighter F-117s or the legacy 1970s design F-16s?

It is the F-117s!!! For the love God ... learn to read the post accurately ... I said it was one of the most advance aircraft in USAF inventory in the 1990s.

You know the B-2s were used as well during the conflict. More modern and more advanced at the time compared to the F-117 which does the same job which is bombing.

Gripen E come with certain electronic devices making it capable of staying hard to detect by Russian fighters. They can ambush them and form different strategies suitable to the type of war scenario they will need to fight. This will be like geurilla war in air. Gripen can take off and land on most highways. This is a unique and suitable ability for this scenario. Further it has meteor for long range engagement and Su-35 is powerless to take on Gripen at meteor ranges. Close range, Gripens will act like a pack of wolves against a bear. Maybe the bear carries more weapons and can fly longer, but the wolves' strategy is to harass the bear from all directions at long range with meteor and short range with Gripen's excellent agility and small size. WVR Gripen can hold certain advantages over Su-35 and Su-27 or Su-30 modernized versions. Honestly Sweden is very very very smart here in how they use minimum resources to provide a good defense against big Russian military. Small countries surrounded by big guys have developed ways throughout their history. Don't forget Sweden is wealthy and technologically very advanced. It's military industries are not second to Russia where they find important. Of course I'm not talking about broad spectrum or numbers but just where it really matters for defense.

Saab calls their integrated system by marketing name, Arexis. Similar to Dassault's SPECTRA. I'm sure Russia has at least tried to make similar things but the big three military countries all went with developing full electromagnetic and material stealth. J-20 and the Americans use certain metamaterials and also employ what Chinese insiders call electronic stealth. Pilots of J-10C and J-16 refer to employing jamming in exercises and new electronic stealth. Mentioned by words to differentiate between typical jamming and EW dedicated planes like F-18 growler. I think these systems also exist in Russia. But the Chinese hint these systems are useless against modern AESA which have certain abilities. Useful against outdated fighters and radars and so most country's airforce. But Gripen E and any modern updated 4th generation fighter with latest AESA will penetrate through Arexis, SPECTRA or whatever the Russians, Chinese, and Americans use etc etc ... at least this is what is hinted by some people. No one here really knows.

This is why USAF almost completed upgraded their entire F-teen series with AESA and then next replacement better AESA and PLAAF is desperate to equip all fighters with AESA. PESA has some drawbacks. Irbis is probably most powerful radar unit and uses best PESA technology since USA don't even want to research and use PESA anymore. PLAAF is same and RUAF Su-57 will use AESA not Su-35's PESA family architecture. Europe is 100% concentrate on AESA too.

Too easy and old technology already by Chinese standards. We are testing quantum radars but military wants longer testing for more proven reliability. Concepts already work easily. Huge numbers of satellite launches last two years and continuing for another space based detection method. Your country can barely copy GaN technology.
