Sweden not only opposes Pak-Iran pipeline, also deems TAPI not viable

ISLAMABAD: Sweden has not only opposed the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project, but has also said that the alternative pipeline from Turkmenistan is also not viable, DawnNews reported on Friday.
Sweden opposed Pakistan’s collaboration with Iran because it said that Iran should clarify the reservations posed by the international community over Iran’s nuclear objectives.
The country also said that the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Pipeline was not workable.
Earlier, a Chinese bank backed off from financing the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. The ICBC was finalised as the financial advisor through an international competitive bidding.
The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) was reluctant to sign the financial advisor contract despite being the lowest bidder.
The financial advisor was responsible for arranging funds for completing the 800-kilometre-long pipeline, at an estimated cost of $1.5 billion.
According to a contract signed in 2009, Iran will supply 750 million cubic feet of gas per day from South Pars fields to Pakistan.

It looks in the game of European colonials, we are just left to suffer..how come people from the far off continent can dare advise or even stop two neighbors from trading with each other and subject millions of humans to energy crisis and misery? This is true colonialism and the Asian countries need to stand up against it. White man has been out of the subcontinent for two centuries now but continue to dictate from his safe heavens of Europe..utterly shameful that countries with such rich history and heritage have come to. Why dont the Europe start supplying free gas to Pakistan if they consider Iran such a risk to their national security that they have to stop two neighbors from trading with each other??

Time to rise up...no more dictation from foreign powers!

I would be waiting for the day when Pakistan raises concern on Baltic Gas Interconnector saying that it will not be feasible for Sweden to link with this project

May be they should also concern Sweden's relationship with Denmark and Norway since Norway can fulfil Sweden's energy needs and Copenhagen can provide some jobs to Swedish people living in Malmo city of Sweden.

Yes... Sweden... I am sure they have every right to ''advice'' Pakistan or Iran on every issue they seem to be concened with...

What kind of joke is this goverment of Sweden....

just giving themselves self-importance, due to complexes.

after all, nobody spends $45,000 on a Volvo when they can get a BMW

:cheesy:

Don't hate on Sweden too much. They recentely agreed to double their trade from 500 Million to 900 Million with us - so that is good news there.

Just that, they shouldn't be telling us what to do.

Actually it looks like sweden felt a bit ashamed for not passing on any Pakistan related comments for a while. No problem, we should ask the Russians to build an energy route to Europe over Sweden.
