I think not sinking or at the very least making the sub surface was a grave mistake on our part. As PN had the Indian sub by the balls when they forced it to snorkel depth.
As had the roles been reversed and it would have been a PN sub the Indian would have blown it out of the water.

Could have blown it up, and then act like nothing happened

because it was still in international waters ???
It was detected entering into EEZ of Pakistan, as per international law territorial waters are limited only up to 12 nm from shores therefore in a war like situation no country could afford an enemy submarine this much near to its shores, so we had all the right to destroy enemy submarine which was trying to enter into our EEZ and was posing danger to our Naval traffic in that prevailing war like situation at that time.

i will never mind if they shot it even in open sea and pretend nothing happened

I think when Sub surfaced herself up means kind of surrender or white flag otherwise who can spot U can knock U too

Firing on a military vessel in international waters is an act of war. We were not at war.
This wasn't a bunch of trigger happy teenagers. This was the Navy. The Indians got the message and a nasty scare too perhaps. If they choose to underestimate our capabilities again, I'm sure the Navy boys will be happy to blow them out of the water.
However, I should think that the INS Kalvari was probably on an intelligence collection mission and that is why we see her at periscope depth in the video. They were probably collecting the radar and sonar profiles of our Naval assets and monitoring the electronic warfare, communications signatures etc.
I just wish we could have seen the reactions of the crew inside the submarine.

One can argue that we were already in a state of war with their jets crossing over to our land and trying to bomb and the next day when we bombed them back. We should really stop being hesitant to climb the escalation ladder should the need arises. Perhaps if hitting the vessel would be an act of war, we could have simply forced it to surface and than take control like Iranians did a couple of times. Parading Indian soldiers on national TV, complete evaluation of their submarine thus rendering it pretty useless for future conflicts and in the end simply return them both would have shocked India to an entire new level.
But no point in dwelling in the past. PN made a call, we stand by it.
