Awami League Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta yesterday said charges can be brought against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for her remark on the country's charter.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday said the recently amended constitution is nothing but an AL manifesto which will be thrown away. She was addressing a mass hunger strike called by her party at Engineers Institution of Bangladesh in the capital.

Bangladesh will be another Pakistan if its constitution is thrown away, Suranjit Sengupta said, also asking the opposition leader to beg pardon to the people.

Suranjit came up with these comments at a discussion styled Restoration of Democracy, Trial of War Criminals and Plan of Action organised by the Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, a cultural organisation, at the city's Public Library, said a press release.

BNP founder Ziaur Rahman after assuming power distorted the constitution by making arbitrary changes. They [BNP] dreamt of turning Bangladesh into a state of Pakistan, alleged Suranjit.

BNP institutionalised looting when it was in power and to do the same, it now wants to throw away the constitution, he said.

Presiding over the function, cultural personality Tarana Halim said BNP has long been conspiring against the pro-liberation forces.

lol... do not add anybody whom you do not know well. Here in the BD section Zabaniya is the most suspicious character. I have been following his posting and attitude since the beginning. He always used to post as pro awami league character and Indian supporter. Suddenly he started to post as if he is too anti awami league and always try to hide his real identity.

I know idune, m_saint and some other also do this and the reason is also obvious. Mainly cause of their hard core zamaat root. But no one is dubious character like zabaniya.

sorry bro! agree to disagree..... Zabanya is the only BD member here who thinks first, then takes decision... So his view varies ....... We do exactly the opposite.... we decide first and try to think/reason it according to our decision.....

May be you are right regarding our case. Because most of us come here with our own agenda. For instance my agenda is to post economic news of Bangladesh and some news regarding India which are mostly anti India and some hot topic....

But if you look at zabaniya his view is constant but changed his direction from pro Awamil eague to with some drama of anti awami league post. Posting Awami or anti Awami league stuff is not a big issue but the real issue his his suspicious behavior. Anyway, I do not have any personal issue with him nor with any other Bangladeshi members. Just come here to kill the time and for some fun.

Probably time is approaching quickly to quit it. After all nothing last forever.

Well, commending India's accomplishments for itself is not the same as being pro-India in respect to the topic.

It's called respect such that you are respected. And obsession is not a healthy thing. Being anti-something never really is. Do not confuse this with criticism.

Technically, I do not have any formal/informal allegiance to any political party whatsoever in Bangladesh. Let's say I do know the AL well, up-close and up-front. That doesn't mean that I am an Awami Leaguer.

Yes, they are very well connected to the GoI. And yes, RAW is very active and a big player in Bangladesh at the moment. Do not ask me what their future plans are. Especially given that the current record of the ruling AL is not sustainable in the long term.

As far as my values go, let's say I live by Technocratic and Capitalistic values. I am indifferent to secular, theocratic or even the buzzword known as Democracy. Religion? Well, that's a personal thing.
