ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Saturday took notice of its vandalised signboard which hangs on the boundary wall of the apex court.
The PWD has been directed to repair the signboard within two days.
The signboard usually read ‘Supreme Court of Pakistan.’ But vandals removed select alphabets to make it read like a political slogan.
According to the sources, SC registrar Tahir Shahbaz, who is currently in Lahore, took notice of the incident when a television channel showed images of the vandalised signboard.
The SC registrar also sought an explanation from security officials, who are supposed to be on guard at the SC premises.
Shahbaz was later briefed about the act of vandalism.
Supreme Court Bar Association president Kamran Murtaza, while talking The Express Tribune, has strongly condemned the vandalism and demanded that those responsible should be exposed and punished.
He also believed that this was a move to ridicule the judiciary; therefore, they will take up the issue before the court when it convenes to hear a case regarding the ongoing political protests next week.
Tsk Tsk..
One more democratic institution being targeted by unknown miscreants, no doubt its falling in the Hunger Index.
Leave all this debate on Sharif and IK and all... just concentrate on Food Security.. Are these protests happening because more and more Pakistanis are becoming hungrier ? Just out of curiosity.
