Tehran: Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, and Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for military cooperation, at the headquarters of the Iranian Ministry of Defence in Tehran, yesterday.
The MoU will serve as a framework for military cooperation between the ministries of defence of the two countries.
The two sides held talks during which they discussed a number of issues of mutual concern within the framework of good relations between the two countries. They reviewed the existing cooperation between the two ministries of defence in both the countries and ways of further developing them.
The minister responsible for defence affairs was accorded an official welcome on his arrival at the headquarters of the Iranian ministry of defence.
Sayyid Badr is on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, accompanied by a delegation comprising senior military officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces, in response to an invitation from Minister of Defence of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The signing ceremony was attended from the Omani side by Sheikh Yahya bin Abdullah Al Fannah Al Araimi, the Sultanate's ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the military delegation accompanying the Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs and the Omani Military Attaché in Tehran.
From the Iranian side, the signing ceremony was attended by a number of senior officers at the Iranian Ministry of Defence.
