‘Suicide bombing’ in Ahmadi mosque in Rajshahi, Bangladesh

A bomb attack on a Bangladeshi mosque during Friday prayers killed one person and wounded at least a dozen, police said, the latest in a series of attacks in the Muslim-majority nation.

The bombing, which police suspect was a suicide attack, took place at a mosque run by the minority Ahmmadiya Muslim community in Rajshahi in the northwest of the country.

Police said it appeared the person killed in the attack was the bomber himself. "It seems the man carried the bomb and died after the bomb was detonated," police official Motiar Rahman said.

Bangladesh has suffered a wave of Islamist militant violence in recent months, including a series of bomb attacks on mosques and Hindu temples.

Some of the attacks have been claimed by Islamic State, which has also said it is behind the killings of a Japanese citizen, an Italian aid worker and a policeman.

The government has denied that Islamic State has a presence in the country of 160 million people. Police have blamed earlier attacks on home-grown Islamist militants.

Friday's attack came days after six people were wounded in bombs explosions at a mosque inside a naval base in the port city of Chittagong, which was the first militant attack on a mosque used by the country's Sunni majority.

Simple, start with getting rid of AL. When BNP and AL shared power (each changed power after 5 years), they were held responsible for their actions. Their main priority is to protect criminals and recently they jailed the owner of a Facebook page (Moja Losss) because he showed the faces of some rapists in Dhaka University who were trying to drag women away.

BS. BNP got rid of JMB not Hasina. Also, the mullahs are much better than the rapists known as AL. Bangladesh is always a socialist nation up until recently when the current government has started doing whatever it pleases and take people's wealth through their goons like a pure communist and control the justice system. BNP were at power before 2009 and we weren't anything like Modi (that's what you are referring).
That's why we need a strong military, because whenever either of the Begums got out of control, they would come and put them to their place. But Hasina decreased their power through BDR mutiny with Indian help.

There is no Taliban in Bangladesh, thus your comparison is void. And the government only takes actions against them and not against atheists. Last I checked, the Taliban don't exists in the Middle East either.

If by progressive you mean atheists, than you employ a level of inferiority complex upon yourself. Our social activities aren't Apeish as in the west and we will never accept those, just like they will never accept ours values on morality and call it stone-age and anti-freedom. If they don't like it in Bangladesh, they can always go to the west where the lives of atheists value more than the rest (as we only make it to their news when a 50 cent athiest dies but not when top member of the opposition political party).

Hasina is the root of our problem. You see, when a finger of ours starts a rot, you cut it off before it spreads to the entire hand, that's what AL is to Bangladesh. I would put BNP to it too but they are lesser than AL.
