WANA: Two suicide bombers rammed their explosives-laden vehicle into the gate of an army base in Wana, killing at least one soldier and wounding eight, security officials said on Wednesday.

The attackers, who drove in from Afghanistan, were stopped before they could get into the camp in Wana, where thousands of soldiers are stationed, army officials said.

“Security forces intercepted the car and opened fire as it neared the camp. The two men then blew themselves up,” said one army official who declined to be identified.

Earlier, a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a checkpoint outside a police station in Bannu, wounding six people.

What is the reason Pakistan is not taking any action against those Terrorists? Pakistan must bring stability and without stability you can't have a good Economy!

Two Pakistani soldiers killed as troops foil suicide attack - The Times of India

ISLAMABAD: At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and four others injured today during an attempt by a pair of suicide bombers in an explosives-laden vehicle to blow up an army camp in the restive South Waziristan tribal region.

Sentries at the Zarai Noor army camp in Wana, the main town of South Waziristan, spotted the two suicide attackers in their vehicle when they were about 100 metres from the camp early this morning, military sources said.

The troops opened fire and both suicide attackers were killed when the vehicle blew up, the sources said, adding two soldiers were also killed and four more injured in the incident.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Such incidents are usually blamed on the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Yesterday, nine people were injured when a suicide attacker rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into the gate of a police station in Bannu town of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, which is located a short distance from North Waziristan.

Suicide bombers kill 3 soldiers in Pakistan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — Intelligence officials say a pair of suicide bombers rammed their truck filled with explosives into the gate of an army camp in northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border, killing three soldiers.

The officials say the attack Wednesday in Wana, the main town in the South Waziristan tribal area, also wounded eight soldiers. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to the media.

South Waziristan was the main sanctuary for the Pakistani Taliban before the army launched a large ground offensive in 2009. The army says it has made great progress in flushing the militants out of the area, but attacks still occur periodically.

They must have used a entry path which wasn't monitored, and then as the vehicle failed to comply with check point orders, 100 meters outside from camp Wana, troops opened fire on vehicle, vehicle exploded, troops got injured.

They did at least stop the vehicle from reaching the camp.
