NEW DELHI: The country's most potent fighters, the Sukhoi-30MKIs, will fly in a 'Missing Man' formation down the majestic Rajpath on September 20 as part of the ongoing celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 1965 war with Pakistan. The 'Missing Man' formation is an aerial salute performed by aircraft during a flypast at a memorial event.
"The Sukhois will also carry out the `Vertical Charlie' manoeuvre during the flypast. The IAF sky diving team Akash Ganga will also do a para-drop from a Mi-17-V5 helicopter on the Indian Gate lawns on September 20 during the IndraDhanush carnival," said an official.
The Army is also kicking off a five-day exhibition "Shauryanjali" near the India Gate from Tuesday, which includes various displays of the 1965 war like captured Pakistan Patton and Sherman tanks. It also includes commemorative exhibitions to showcase eight major battles of the war: Hajipir Pass, Asal Uttar, Barki, Phillora, Parbat Ali, Dograi, Khem Karan and Bhuj/Munabao.
