After 1974 when the first nuclear test was conducted by India, Pakistan made several proposals for keeping South Asia free of nuclear weapons and missiles.

These included simultaneous application of IAEA safeguards on all nuclear facilities and bilateral arrangement for their reciprocal inspections; simultaneous accession to the ‪NPT‬; regional ‪CTBT‬; Zero Missile Regime in South Asia; and signing of a Non-Aggression Pact. Depends on where you are standing. There have been no wars after nuclear weapons barring a sole skirmish were introduced into the theatre. This threat of danger ironically keeps every one (rational) from pulling the trigger.

So that USSR had nuclear weapons because USA had. In that context its track back to USA. In this case the world can never be denuclearize and always at a stake of a nuclear holocaust.

Ok my mistake, lets Chinese have because Europe and USA have nuclear weapons.... Now tell me where this story will come to an end? no where, so yes for strategic stability in South Asia, even in Asia or in bigger picture on earth all power should have nuclear weapons to avoid a third world war which would be the end of human race on earth. That's why there been no third World War even after 70 years been passed to Second World War because in every corner of the world nations possess nuclear weapons. So in any coming world war there will be no country left which can be super power of the world. The whole world know this fact that's why they are avoiding major wars which can escalate to a world war since 60s.

How my post is not relevant? you have to understand that I clearly mention in my post, to stablize south asia, even asia and even the whole world, nuclear powered nation posses their nuclear weapons. This is the only reason there was no third world war which is ultimately showing the stability of world nations in the presence of nuclear weapons. So destabilization of south asia will ultimately destabilize the whole world.
