Still critical of the PML-N, PTI softens its stance a little towards MQM

KARACHI: The central president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Javed Hashmi, claims that it was on his persuasion that the party chief, Imran Khan, softened his approach towards the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Imran Khan, who is a fierce opponent of the MQM, has repeatedly ruled out any possibility of even negotiating with the party. But Hashmi said, “I told him that if they are democratically elected they cannot be shunned. If the party wants, they can win voters in the city by delivering.”

Hashmi said that while the PTI had its differences with the MQM over policies, he himself had cordial relations with the party. Members of the PTI say that Hashmi is the cool-headed adviser for its emotional party chief on the party’s internal matters and its policies.

Hashmi’s visit is actually a materialisation of the PTI’s plans for entering into the fray of Sindh’s politics, where it still does not enjoy the popularity like in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. His itinerary includes meetings with party members and lawyers, and small rallies in Malir and Hyderabad. Throughout the press conference, Hashmi’s kept throwing jibes at Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), but surprisingly used a less hostile tone for Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the MQM. He was also vague about revealing who might PTI make a political alliance with.

Hashmi said that even though the PTI was criticised for having a peripheral policy but ending corruption was just how the economy can be improved. “Our party is democratic within its own structure which no other party has done before.” Talking about new provinces, he declared that PTI was in favour of establishing new provinces. But he said that there was no law in the country’s constitution for making them and the assurances being given to the people are baseless. About his party’s opposition to the Mohajir Suba, however, he said that the country can only be divided on administrative lines and not ethnic.

Mir Mazhar Ali Magsi, the former additional secretary and vice president of the Sindh chapter of PML-N, and Nawabzada Mir Atiqulaah Talpur also officially joined PTI on Tuesday. While Atiqulaah Talpur, the son of Mir Lutfullah Talpur is making his debut in politics, Magsi has been in the field for a good 20 years.

An earlier version of the photo caption misspelt the word “delivering” as “deliveringm”. The correction has been made.

As per Hashmi’s point of view, PTI can’t win against PMLN overwhelmingly so why not get PMLN loose as well by targeting its vote bank continously:cheers:

Keep it up P(o)TIans…..Another 5 years for Zardari is around the corner for sure:hitwall:

you mean 21st amendment so that zardari can be re elected. And as far as MQM is concerned they have militia which is bad but when it comes to govt, developmen they are much better than Pmln...

Politically we dont even need to challenge MQM. Thats a great strategy infact, tackle the Munafiq league is the foremost objective that should be achieved !!

however, in the same address Hashmi said there will be no alliance (with MQM) !!

so much for the soften part !!

Inshallah it will not be the case... but yes we have faced 4.5 years of cruel Zardari govt. due to the very brotherhood of PML-N n PPP...

And it is a very smart move to do so, PTI leadership must realize that to win Urban Karachi.. it needs the MQM...
only then.. it can completely throw the PPP out of any strongholds it has in Karachi and its surrounding areas.
The fat blob in London aside with this thug army.. the MQM is the party which has a greater sync in terms of educated members and policies with the PTI than any other political group.

Hashmi is an asset for PTI, only sumone like him can come up with such a cool strategy.

What about IK claim that He has a dream and if he start doing such thing his dream can not be materialized !!!

Double standards. Taking help from murderers

Still no alliance with MQM.

There are some thinking people in MQM, and to be fair, MQM does have a strong hold over Karachi, if you are good with MQM you are good with Karachi. They have some thuggish policies as well, thanks to the ever-diarrhea patient in London.

I won't be supporting any alliance with MQM though. And I don't think PTI is going for any.

Every Tom , dick and harry in Pakistani politics needs MQM ... No one can stay in power without them .. or else choose alliance with PML n or PPP !!

A party with 28-29 seats so important???? I dont think so!!!

28-29 seats when the GREAT TSUNAMI is not considered. Common Pti after such a BIG SHOW OF POWER you must win at-least 4-5 seats from Karachi

Smart move? You might be right but for Cities on either side of the GT Road and in KPK to some extent, its suicidal for sure, Majority of Khi urban seats are of MQM which won’t allow them to win by PTI in any case, so taking a risk only for one or two seats is highly unlikely.

Therefore, an alliance prior to elections might be difficult but in a post election scenario….its highly prospective.

What JH is doing is exactly roughing up the political surface towards an even field for post elections maneuverings amongst PTI potential voters, how far PTI succeeds in it only times will tell but for opponents specially for PMLN another point is in placed as well to prove Imran’s amazing summersaults tendencies and in politics perception sometimes becomes more damaging than actual transactions.:coffee:

Don't know about PTI but PML N always thought MQM to be important that is why they were with them in both governments and PTI doesn't speak much for MQM because they don't want innocent to be killed their main focus is now on winning elections and take on the two major Mafia PPP and PML N when if they are able to come into power with Great Majority than taking out the killer MQM will be no Problem other wise it will dangerous for innocent people of Karachi

you may disagree , but facts state otherwise , try calculating seats ! only way for any party ( without making a coalition with ppp or pml n ).. which will be very hipocrate of pti of they do so .. they have zero chance .. also on the other hand pti will hopefuly replace with anp
