1: POF should develop a modernised MP-5 variant chambered in 5.7mm ammunition. When equipped with a pic rail, front grip, a red dot and a suppressor, POF can offer a hard hitting modern-ish weapon for most CQB applications. FN 5.7 round has excellent velocity and penetration characteristics. This can serve as an excellent alternative to bulkier CQB rifles that limit an operators movement in confined spaces. Production of FN 5.7 round at POF will be ideal. It will also mean that hk tooling used to produce MP5 will be Repurposed to develop and produce "POF 57" with excellent export potential among LEAs overseas.
2: Upgrade PSR-1 and AZB DMRs with integrally suppressed barrels, forward assist etc. These rifles are to be used between 400m to 1000m envelope, putting the shooter at risk of exposure due to non suppressed weapon. Production of Sniper ammo M118 etc at POF will help. These are excellent adaption of G-3 Rifle, they have further upgrade potential with integrally suppressed barrel, accurisation and TI sights. Small, incremental improvements will result in a highly versatile weapon.
3: LSR is a promising weapon, but it needs to be chambered in .338LM rather than 308 Win. It also needs a much improved barrel, flash hider and suppressor option. It has to offer a token upgrade on existing weapons, that will be the 338 round. Rest of the weapon is pretty decent and within acceptable standards. POF won't be able to sell LSR to the Armed Forces when they already have much better 308 Sniper rifles in service.
4: Develop a box fed and belt fed "portable" ultra light machine gun, based on the G-3 platform, much like the HK-21 and HK-23 albeit with modernised accessories, TI sights, stocks, backpack mounted belt feed, and rail systems. This "portable" weapon will fill the gap between a G3 and an MG3. In patrol configuration, this weapon will be powerful tool in the hands of long range patrol operators, working on COIN operations, especially in mountainous terrain. Paramilitary forces like FC, Rangers will like such a weapon as carrying around an MG3 is a challenge and Russian PKMs etc aren't good enough.
5: Get localised production for TP-9 Combat Pistols from Canik Turkey. They are good value for money, even against the Glocks. PDWs are very important for CT, COIN operators.
PS: These are personal observations, having time with some of these weapons. With new weapons contracts in a limbo, I think these steps will make POF more competitive locally and in the export markets.
What do you think?
