HATE SPEECH creates Extremism and Extremism flourishes Terrorism. To control terrorism, government has to control hate speech as a first state of defense. Most of the civilized countries, with fair judicial system, have hate speech laws, discouraging people to become extremists. If "Kafir Kafir Shia Kafir" slogan be patronized by the government than obvious result will be extremism causing targeted killing of Shia's minority and bombing shia places of worship across the nation. Current pro Taliban government with its ties and softer corner for extremists, sectarian violence suddenly starting to creep up, creating dire situation for shias.
Last 2 weeks, once again opened, a hunting season of Shia's in Pakistan. If your recall Shia targeted killing of doctors in 2004, a similar regiment started again in Karachi and other parts of the country in April 2014. In last 2 weeks, just in Karachi, 2 shia doctors and a lawyer were gun down along with 5 others innocent shia victims. Just yesterday, Engineer Muhammad Yousuf alias Muntazir Mehdi, a lecturer at the NED Engineering University was gundown in Karachi. Engineer Muntazir Mehdi was an eminent official of Asgharia Organisation, Sindh-based organization of Shia professionals and graduates.
In a televised interview the additional IG Sind stated " a new wave of targeted killing has suddenly started, mostly shia victims which eventually changes into sectarian violence on both sides. This current waves of shia killings is a trickle down effect of the entire country".
In Baluchistan, the Genocide of Shia Hazara Muslims continues till today. Two more Shia Hazara Muslims of Quetta shot dead on April 13th, 2014. Juma Khan and Najeeb were ordinary shia residents of Hazara Town Quetta. They were traveling on Saryab Road Quetta where they were pulled out of vehicle and riddled with bullets after having established their Shia identity.
While the pro Taliban Government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sherif is begging the mercy of TTP to give Pakistani few more days to live, TTP's second tier foot soldiers and splinters groups are sounding the alarms all over the country. Latest wave of Shia sectarian violence proves to be another example of States failure to protect its citizens and minorities as previously observed by the Pakistan Supreme Court.
How sectarian violance can stop in Pakistan when the government patronizes the terrorists for political gain, judiciary stays muted and an average Pakistani just thanks God for his own safety. When the government knowingly and willingly allows banned outfits to legally acquire new name, have office all across the country and have their flags kissing the winds with gross disregard of the safety of the public, people have a right to be fearful and especially the religious minorities.
ASWJ formerly know as Sepih-e- Sahaba is a test case.The banned group has claimed responsibility for some of the worst atrocities against Shiites in recent years.The banned outfit terrorized shia minority for years, openly accepting responsibility of Shia targeted killings, Imambargh attacks and shia procession bombings has conveniently changed their name to Ahla Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) to have a new cover, silently blend in predominantly sunni state.
Nations tragedy, banned terrorist organization ASWJ was also put on the list of terrorist organizations by Ministry of Interior Pakistan on 15th February 2012 yet they are allowed to own thousands of mosques, madrassa's and offices all across the country. Shamelessly, the same Shia killers are not paraded as a "Heroes of Peace" on the national TV promoting sense of insecurity for Shia's and other minorities alike.
To add to the insecurity of Shia's, a bizarre decision on Wednesday by an Pakistan Election Commission tribunal disqualifying Sheikh Akram from NA-89 (Jhang) and declared runner-up candidate Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, the Chief terrorist of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) announced as duly elected Member of Pakistani parliament making headline around the world.
How Pathetic? Pakistan Election commission's election tribunal finds a bank defaulter ineligible to be member of Pakistani parliament but conveniently finds a known mass murders and terrorist organization leader, Mulana Ahmed Ludhianvi to be eligible.The media, Government and the Courts are silent. No political parties in Pakistan has issued condemnation of the decision. I have yet to see, the Government of Punjab taking this matter to the High Court seeking a stay order on the decision of The election commission tribunal in the said case.
If terrorist list provided by the Ministry of Interior held true, is it a coincident, last month, the United States Department of State put LJ(38) and its leader Malik Ishaq on the international terrorist list for his admission of shia killing and the same day Lahore High Court grants him bail or is this a coincident that a bank defaulter is disqualified to qualify a known terrorist of ASWJ(03) Moulana Ahmed Ludhanvi with his known ties to PLMN, LJ and TTP alike.
If the hate speech is not stopped and hate mongers are not muscled, the day is not too far away when the National Assembly will be roaring with Kafir Kafir shia Kafir and knowing the shamelessness of the nation, Shia will be declared Kafir to please the Taliban mindset while the nation is asleep.
