ISLAMABAD:
SpaceX has expressed eagerness to launch Starlink’s satellite broadband internet in Pakistan.

In this regard, a delegation of US-based global satellite broadband provider called on Minister of IT and Telecom Syed Aminul Haque on Tuesday to discuss the policy and operation model.

The group comprised SpaceX Director Middle East and Asia Ryan Goodnight and Head of Global Site Acquisition Ben Macwilliam. On the occasion, Haque mentioned that 40,000 schools and small and medium enterprises presented a unique opportunity to the company. He said the Starlink internet could also be expanded to the unserved and underserved areas of Pakistan.

Average wages does not seems accurate, it is very less in the country.. i mean 500 pkr,
Fiber Internet may be much better,

Pakistani rulers even failed to launch Pakistani DTH in 2 decades, and Satellite Broadband seems impossible for residents.

Seriously, only 500 PKR per month??

Yes, this is average wages in the country.. not 500 pkr per month, 500 pkr per day, wages are always count per day, even if a person is getting 20000 pkr total monthly, in wages sunday and other holidays not counted...

If you check factories, companies, you can understand it better, especially in factories, somepeople even get 200 pkr per day, some 400-500 pkr, very few people get little more, but if you check avg will be 500 pkr..

Only govt departments like educators have have 800-1200 pkr, peon and others have 500-800 pkr, and avg wages will be 500 pkr everywhere, if divide monthly salary on 30 days, you will understand, it does not mean every person is getting 500 pkr daily, but it is average..

One of many bone headed ideas of Musk, Hyperloop, Solar Roof, Boring Company, Nuralink and this...

42K starlink satellites have a lifespan of 5 years and they cost $50bn to launch and put into orbit, another 42K satellites would have to be launched to replace the original. Not sure how this will ever make any money or bring internet to anyone en masse.

Will fail if these are the prices

$500 for the dish. $99 per month.
$99/month for high speed internet? Thats steep. Surely the Chinese can provide that in fractional costs.
I read somewhere that Starlink is struggling to set its foot in India because the India Govt is not singing to its tunes. This maybe one reason.

They need to introduce regional pricing otherwise it is a failure. Prices should be significantly lesser than USA or Europe.
