A National Security Guard (NSG) commando, who was cycling to the NSG hub at Trimulgherry, was knocked down by a speeding cab on Wednesday.
The 32-year commando, Ram Naresh, was a Lance Naik in the military and was on deputation with the NSG. He was staying at Shastripuram near Trimulgherry with his wife and two children.
On Wednesday morning, Ram Naresh was cycling to the NSG hub from his house to attend a physical training session when a Meru cab coming from the opposite direction hit his bicycle. The mishap took place near military hospital.
Police said the cab driver while trying to overtake another vehicle lost control over the steering and hit Ram Naresh, who was coming in the opposite direction.
Ram Naresh, who suffered serious injuries, was immediately rushed to the nearby military hospital but he was declared brought dead.
A case was registered against the cab driver Kishore who was taken into custody.
