These pics are from annual festival of Sufi saint Baba Chamliyal in Chamliyal village in Ramgarh sector of Samba district, 40 km from Jammu city. India's Border Security Force and Pakistan's Chenab Rangers handle the annual fair, and help people from both sides of the international border receive the sacred items believed to have healing properties against skin ailments. Commander Waseem Jaffar of the Rangers and other officers came to the dargah to pay obeisance and carry the sacred items for devotees across the border. BSF Deputy Inspector General B.S. Chasana welcomed the Pakistani officers, who also offered a 'chadar' at the Sufi saint's mausoleum.

Exchanges and interaction like this will improve the relationship, and eventually reduce the tensions in border........ There is a mallu movie i recommend........ "Picket 43"...... this movie speaks about the relationship between a ranger and a BSF guy in a remote border post.......It speaks about the relationship they build.......There was another movie in Malayalam, based on border tensions...... It also highlights the cordial relationship these front liners share.........

Yep! They do, but for the politics on both sides which screws things up!

The flag meetings on the LoC in the days gone by were like a family affair. The Pakistani troops used to bring tandoori chicken from across and we used to get them the choicest Assam tea and tandoori roti! A picnic used to ensue under a shady tree bang on the LoC. It was fun. Even our bloody jokes were the same!! Jeeez!
