You have to collect enough data in an unbiased manner to come to such a conclusion. However, in Bengali we have a saying, "Agune pure sona khati hoy" (Gold becomes pure after burning in fire)......and (you know why) the Indian Bengalis from East Bengal have burned through fire, walked through hell, and regained themselves after facing the unspeakable hardship and winning over it.......pains and sorrows sometimes brings out the best of human qualities.

Wrong, most of the Hindu Bengali figures were of the by product of the British rule in India. They enjoyed highest level of privilege that any Indian can even dreamed of in independent India.
