Technically it is, but the firewall is laughably easy to bypass. I was using my gmail and WhatsApp while in Guangzhou last year by using a simply VPN on my phone.

Beijingwalker, Kai Lui, Place of Space all apparently live in China. To me it is very interesting and logical when they would talk up China. Their actions in life are the same as their words. They choose China.
Foreign nationals living in other countries have left their homeland for some reason. To talk up their homeland is contrary to their previous actions in life.

I suppose those young supposedly "rich" Chinese living in Richmond might be little more than hostages against their parents massive debts.
