A high-level delegation of a prominent Chinese group TBEA led by its President Zhang Jainxin met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Sunday. Matters regarding solar project in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur were discussed in the meeting.



Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said the foundation stone of the first solar project of Pakistan had been laid in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur, which would start producing 100 megawatt electricity by December 2014.




President TBEA Zhang Jainxin said every possible effort would be made for completion of the 100 megawatt project before the timeframe and in accordance with the vision of Shahbaz Sharif. He said he was deeply impressed with the hard work and determination of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.



Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high-level meeting gave approval to expanding the area of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur from 10,000 acres to 15,000 acres. He also gave approval to increasing the capacity of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park from 1,000 megawatts to 1,500 megawatts. He said small solar power projects would also be set up at various places in Punjab. He directed that technical study be carried out of various places for establishing small solar power projects and final recommendations be presented within seven days.




He said necessary facilities would be provided to the investors at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park on priority basis and early completion of solar project would be ensured. Chief Executive Officer Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Najam Shah gave a detailed briefing on the project. Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Chairman Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park and the officials concerned attended the meeting.
