Since they can afford but we cant ? I am for Solar power but why not come up with policy so ppl can buy up cheap solar systems at home ? Atleast ppl who can afford that will release some pressure on national grid. Instead goverment has set taxes on solar power and wapda come to collect money if they find out you are using solar...

Dude do you know what I'm talking about before you start yapping how PML is bad, liar, corrupt, modi sponsored party?

I'm speaking about the author who said solar energy is high risk investment. Business 101, don't invest so heavily in something that is very risky. Germany is proud of its track record of solar energy and it doesn't see it as "high risk". Even home owners themselves install solar panels. neither does China see it as high risk as they're investing more than any country in the world.

1) Thus, there is absolutely no risk involved in solar energy. It is proven and hence even in KPK the govt is employing solar energy for small projects like street lights.
2) It is expensive for any country to employ, but it becomes cheaper if you look you won't have to pay for gas or diesel to generate electricity, or wait years for dams to build.

Learn to read before yapping.

Actually solar power contrary to widely held beliefs, can be potentially harmful to environment. No one talks about what would happen to batteries ? Or the disposing cost. The Cadmium and Nickel and other similar heavy metals used on solar panels if mixed with soil can be carcinogenic. The solar panels still have a very high upfront investment vis.a.vi the power output generated.

The cheaper solar panels also degenerates pretty quickly and needs frequent replacement.

Got more information today.. This Solar project is a big scam and close friends of Nawaz Sharif will earn huge amount. And Norwegian company isnt clean either.

Only 5 ppl from Pakistan were invited but Nawaz came with delegation of 40 ppl. They enjoyed vacation on tax payers money. Nawaz Sharif did not meet Pakistani community thats why ppl are angry on him. PMLN Norway president and other members were not invited either thats why he resigned today

Even Sactec does not have license to build more than 40mw plant how did they got 150mw project when there are many other bigger companies ?

Germans have Money so they focus on Returns rather then Risk which makes Risk Appetite very high because they have lot of resources in their Treasury while Pakistan doesnt even have resources to Pay for Imports for more then 2 Months that is why Pakistan's Risk Appetite is quite low and Pakistan cant focus on Returns like Germany.

1. No there is a risk and the risk is RETURN on INVESTMENT. Countries dont usually Employ this only because they find any Return on investment they are making for this particular Project as you need so many Acres of Land, Thousands of Solar Panels cost incurred in Installations and then you also have to consider its Life and Yield WRT investment you have made.
2. Its correct that they dont consume Fossil fuel or Natural Resources like other Source of Electricity Generation but they do Require Heavy Maintenance as well and environment is another concern for them because the Rains can effect the Panels as well if they are installed in Wet Region and Sand Storm can Effect it as well if they are Installed in Dry Region.

Now combine High Maintenance cost, Cost of Land, Cost of Panels and Cost of Installations which is Total Investment of a Project and compare it with Total Price of Total Expected MW of Electricity it would Produce before getting Fully Depreciated or become Useless and Scraped. You will get the picture yourself why Solar Plants is not Feasible Investment for Pakistan.

Govt of pak should provide swift loans to home owners and make deals with companies who provide solar power generation companies atleast who are good at it 3 or 4 companies put on market let the owner decide which provider he wants once system instaled on monthly basis wht he was paying bill before he pays instalment every month from 5 to 8 k a month every one is a winner here
