As far as I know our political landscape has always been dominated over discussions on our consitution, constitution amendments, bla bla.....it is always politics....i cant remember the name but i have read where a foreign (indian i think) socialogist commented in 70s that SL has an over developed polity and an underdeveloped economy.

SLns always talk about politics and how constitution should be...and no economy has never been a big topic in SL which is sad....
SL is the only country in the world after france that has changed its constitution so frequently.

And SL has High social indicators even after a 30 year war, two bloody insurgencies, tsunami , etc...Our governments has had subsidy economy most of the time..It was only JR and MR who went away from a subsidy economy..and now RW is back to it

I don't care about MR supporters or UNP supporters. Here's what I understand, people are too backward in this country that even democracy has become a reason to cause a massive social division. Democracy is meant to be a system where each citizen vote a party based on its policies but in Sri Lanka it has become some kind of faction system that you carry to your grave. When MR was there, the UNP supporters were complaining about his every action regardless of positive and negative effects including even renovating Colombo If you think that's worse, some were hoping for total destruction of the country. Now it's the other way around.

I have a positive opinion about Sri Lanka..in spite of civil war that went on for many years, it managed to stand on its legs.because it is a Buddhists country I love it even more.
I read somewhere Buddhists in Sri Lanka don't eat beef just like Indian Hindus..much better than mallu Hindus.
