I really don't want to turn this into a Kargil discussion. but if Pakistan won, why did they vacate the posts? THe reason is they lost Tiger Hill. After that, it was hopeless. That is the reason Nawaz Shariff went crying to Clinton on July 4th, after Pakistan lost Tiger Hill. Meanwhile, India did not lose a single peak it had occupied. THis was a major military success for India because it was able to remove the millitants through conventional mountain warfare.
Here is an unbiases documentary.
Anyway, this thread was not about military, but diplomacy. India has already bested Pakistan militarily, so do any countries support Pakistan diplomatically?
Perhaps someone else should ask my question, because I have not gotten one coherent answer from GumNaam and Hussein.
Pakistan had no option but to vacate the posts after international pressure on Pakistan mounted and nawaz basically folded
otherwise India had essentially been completely defeated and eclipsed in Kargil
Nawaz then ordered military to cease all operations as he was under international pressure and he didn't have the balls to stand up to it
India then got a free shot at forces occupying kargil with no Pakistani support
Pakistan retained control of numerous conquered peaks overlooking kargil
Army/Musharraf however we're furious at nawaz lack of balls and orders to stop support for Kargil incursions and coup became imminent
India has already bested Pakistan militarily,
We have over 150 nuclear warheads pointed at india, this morning another incursion happened and you lost a indian major and 3 soldiers
you are completely militarily countered and know the consequences of war with Pakistan
