Sindh govt to 'gift' 9000 acres of land to Army
00:04 Jun 20, 2015 PAKISTAN

KARACHI: Government of Sindh will allot 9000 acre of forest land to Pakistan Army for onward distribution among the heirs of martyred and war wounded personnel of armed forces, officials said.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah held here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Forest Gianchand Israni, Chief Secretary Siddiq Memon, Senior Member Board of Revenue Shoaib Siddiqui, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput and other concerned officers.

The chief minister informed the meeting that an application of Pakistan Army to Sindh government for allotment of 35,521 acre forest land in Garhi Yasin, District Shikarpur in 2001. The file was moving from one office to another.

"Since the request has been made for the rehabilitation of martyrs’ families and war wounded military personnel, therefore this request must be honoured.

The Minister for Forest Gianchand Israni told the meeting that the land in question was located in the area of Golo Daro of Garhi Yasin.

"Its 5000 acres were under illegal occupation of some influential people which was vacated by the Rangers recently," he said.

The minister further said out of 25,000 acre forest land, 5000 acres belong to private owners. Presently 9000 acres are available for which his department has no objection if it is allotted to the martyrs' families.

The Chief Secretary said that the army request for land is for the families of 500 martyrs, of them 200 belong to Sindh.

"Since the request is genuine, therefore it should be entertained," he said.

Senior member Board of Revenue Shoaib Siddiqui said that under the policy forest land can be allotted only for agricultural purposes.

The Pakistan Army has already made request to use it for agriculture purposes, therefore government was authorized to allot the land.

Secretary Forrest Sajjad Abbasi said that under the policy the lease holder of the forest land is bound to cultivate forests on 20 percent of the total holding and 80 percent for agriculture purposes.

The chief minister, in principle, approved the allotment of the land and directed the Chief Secretary to move the summary for the purpose. (APP)

In the end it's only the Armed Forces that will 'own' Pakistan, legally. This is nothing, through a legislation, back in 2000's they 'gifted' a whole lot more to the Armed Forces in KPK (Maulvi Diesel signed on it - give and take)........ Zardari & Nawaz combined have done little damage than this.......

Hence the more belligerence shown by Indian Military leadership; they've figured they are dealing with part time real estate agents and so can easily outclass them both tactically and strategically.

Have you even read the article? Who asked for it, and how much of it? Things that go on in this country, if you only had the brains to process them...........

Hope the army rejects this cheap bribe.

Right now because of the ongoing operation in Karachi PPP is scared as hell. They will do anything to get out of this mess!
And in doing so, they will so shamelessly offer bribe to Army? In-fact, this is no bribe but a charge sheet against Army. Sindh government is saying that Army wanted land from us, when we refused, they raided land office and tried to twist our arm. Now we give them land so they leave us alone. I have no idea how Army will react to this charge sheet now.

They were so organized and crooked that, after the provincial government (KPK) alloted them the land, still they weren't satisfied, they wanted more, they wanted hands on commercial lands, there was a such a case where they went after such a piece of land (of course with fully coerced patwaris), they got the land allotted...... I after referencing old records and senior engineer working at NHA found out (GPS etc etc.... old 'AQS' etc etc) that they changed the allotment THREE times to match up against the highway and took over built up shops (IN THE WRONG PLACE) - their modus operandi was going there with a jeep full of soldiers and a gun mounted and had the whole of the village scared to their bones.......... finally they took over a whole strip of land full of BUILT shops (you have no idea about land laws, just take my word, HIGHLY ILLEGAL)...... this case also got reported up to the GHQ and the whole SHABANG of intel agencies were informed.... however, what happened? NOTHING. NADA. ZILCH.

Sometimes, I think, it's better we all transfer our lands to these people and be done with it!

What does it mean? You scratch my back I scratch yours!

Army brat you be?

Yes, an application sent from the army a decade ago is conveniently accepted by the Sindh government right now.

On facebook Jiyalas are saying Kuttoon ko haddi daalni thi tu daal di....ab bhonkna chor dena chaaiyeh....

Its actually a clever move from Zardari and I don't think Army is in a position to say it no. It will be interesting if Rangers further pace up the operation against the corrupt mafia i.e. PPP
