Sindh Govt Decides Against Full Implementation of Single National Curriculum

The government of Sindh has decided to exclude certain components of the Single National Curriculum (SNC) in the provincial curriculum of the Primary level.

While no preparations are being made to implement the SNC in Sindh, the provincial Education Department is developing a new curriculum for the Secondary and Higher Secondary levels.

As per media reports, the Sindh Textbook Board (STB) is revising the Grade 9 Science textbooks and the Bureau of Curriculum has started preparing a new curriculum for the Intermediate level.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, an official of the STB revealed that the main difference between the federation’s curriculum and the Single National Curriculum in Sindh is in Islamic Studies, Urdu, Sindhi, and Social Studies.

The officer added that the SNC has given a separate placement to Islamic Studies from Grade 1, while it is taught from Grade 4 onwards in Sindh. Moreover, the provincial government is adamant that Islamic Studies will be taught from Grade 4.

Similarly, the federation’s Primary level Islamic Studies curriculum has more hadiths than Sindh’s curriculum, which Sindh disagrees with.
In addition, some topics in the Science subjects, which should be for Grade 5 have been included in the Grade 4 curriculum, which is adding an unnecessary burden on the students.

It was reported that the preparation of a new curriculum for the Higher Secondary level has also begun in Sindh, and will be introduced for the next academic session 2022/23 instead of the upcoming academic session.

According to sources, the curriculum prepared by the Bureau of Curriculum has eliminated the separate placement of Zoology and Botany for First Year and Second Year, and the subjects have been merged like Matriculation-style Biology. The same book will be available as one subject ‘Biology’ instead of separately as Zoology and Botany in the academic session 2022/23 for the medical students at the Intermediate level.

Sindh has every right to pursue policies of interest immediate to the populace.

It has a distinct culture just like other administrative units of the country. To exercise the freedom to mould one's future can never be taken away and is a constitutional guarantee in Pakistan.

Congratulations to PPP for continuing with progressive politics in the fatherland.

The Education policy should be Implemented as Federal Authorities want it , every one must have equal access to Education and high quality Education.

Curriculum needs to be more aligned in order for Kids to benefit from Universal nature of education , they can continue to get same quality of education even if they had to move between cities or Towns

It feels as if Money is being wasted if 2 Ministries are operating doing same thing / task , i.e Making Education Policy and Curriculum. One at a National Level and One at a Regional Level

The Provincial Ministry should be closed so money can be saved. The money saved could be used instead to better Educate Teachers and Train them to become better teachers

1 Education Ministry = Best 8-) :coffee:
  • Hire PHDs
  • Hire Master Holder in Education

4-5 Education Ministries in each Province = Money wasted and Too many cooks in the Kitchen
Close these out and redirect funds to Teacher Welfare / Training , who have license from Federal Education Ministry
Don't pay for "Planners" , use the fund to actually improve the Teachers with Training

For 1 Job 5-6 , Cooks want a Salary , and they will just keep making minor adjustments in order to feel relevant
The Size of Ministry should be reduced to 1 at Federal Level

People are slaves in the Feudal system. It’s modern form of slavery and as long as this system is thriving, it will never given people full independence and opportunity to get education. People will born in the system and will die in the same system.

It is what it is. No need to complain.

Sindh Finally Approves Books Under Single National Curriculum

Study Books

The Sindh government has reportedly approved the books prepared under the Single National Curriculum (SNC) to be taught in all public and private schools across the province.
As per local media reports, preparations have been finalized to teach the Arabic language in schools under the National Curriculum Act.

Arabic language textbooks will be introduced in the sixth grade in all schools of the province.
The development has come days after the province showed reservations on the implementation of SNC in Sindh schools for the academic year 2021-22.
The federal education ministry intends to introduce and implement a uniform syllabus in the academic session starting from August.

The ministry had also recommended provinces publish books related to the new curriculum. However, the Sindh government did not make any preparations in line with the ministry’s suggestions, rather started working on a new curriculum to be introduced at the secondary and higher secondary levels.
