Sindh cabinet approves removal of AD Khawaja from IG post

The Sindh cabinet approved on Wednesday the provincial government’s decision to surrender the services of incumbent Inspector General of Police Allah Dino Khawaja to the federal government, giving acting charge of the position to additional IG Abdul Majeed Dasti.

The meeting, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, was briefed by Advocate General Zameer Ghumro about the Sindh High Court (SHC) Monday’s decision to suspend the PPP-led Sindh government’s decision, saying: “The court observed that the cabinet had not approved the decision of surrendering the services of IG police.”

Sources in the Sindh government said that after the cabinet decision, the provincial government would present the decision before the SHC and write another letter to the federal establishment division, Islamabad surrendering the services of the IG and recommending the same three names.

“The names of Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti, Ghulam Qadir Thebo and Khadim Hussain Bhatti will be sent again,” an official in the provincial government department said.

There must be some kind of law to provide protection to the police chiefs so that the provincial governments can't change them for political reasons to or to protect criminal politicians. Once a police chief is appointed (based on merit and a specific set of professional criteria) for a specific term (4/5 years) no one should be able to change him unless there is a valid reason to do so, and even then high court should decide that.

There credibility and writ is down to zero due to utter mistrust between the provincial govt and the state / federal govt. Court has ordered IG to continue working until the verdict. PPP is extremely corrupt.
