A Sikh peace activist from Uttar Pradesh (UP)’s Muzaffarnagar has decided to uniquely celebrate Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary. In a bid to promote inter-faith harmony, 70-year-old Sukhpal Singh Bedi has donated 900 Sq Ft land for building a mosque for the Muslim community.

Sukhpal made the announcement at an event in Purkazi town in the UP district this past Sunday. He also handed over the land documents of the 900 sq ft plot to Nagar Panchayat Chairman Zahir Farooqui. The majority of the population of Purkazi town is made up of Muslims.

Bedi said that he wants to preserve India’s pluralist and secular nature, and he hopes that this act will help spread the message of communal harmony. He added that there is no better way to celebrate the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, as his teachings are based on brotherhood, love, and equality for all.

Both communities welcomed the initiative, saying that the act will encourage love, harmony, and brotherhood between them.

900 sq ft = 1 larger room. I guess they can sell this land and donate it toward another masjid under construction.

lol donation is a donation, it can be 1 sq yard or foot.
Ya, but the way headline is stated, it’s implied Sikh donated something comparable to kartarpure. This much land or value is nothing unusual for someone to donate. Ok, I got it, he was sikh.

Baba Guru Nanak learnt teachings from a Muslim Sufi saint - no wonder a great initiative.
