Should we change our scripts to Latin?

Today I was reading a suicide letter which was written by a Pakistani boy(who killed his lover and killed himself)...what struck me was he used Latin script to write his letter in Urdu....of late I am feeling that we should change our local scripts to Latin as it rids our children of unnecessary burden...many kids in my state are very weak at writing Telugu script..I feel Latin script is easy to read and write ...I don't know whether it is good enough to use for south Indian languages which generally have 3 or more syllable words..but for Hindi and Urdu which generally have one or two syllable words Latin script suits the best..of course a few modifications have to be made according to our requirement...all these days I was of the opinion that people are using Latin script for mobile messages only but after seeing that letter I realised how deep it has started appealing to young generation..is it time to switch to Latin script?

NO. English doesn't sounds the way we speak.. you with your experience of reading Hindi or we Urdu are able to co-relate with Latin script but 2 generations down who would only read Latin Script will speak Urdu / Hindi weirdly.

Change is inevitable..do you think any language that is being spoken now was spoken in the same way some 500 years ago?..language is for the purpose of communication..a language is for our use but we are not for language's use..we can retain the sounds by making or adding some modifications to the script just like what turks did.

Telugu script even though little complicated is right way to express telugu language.

If we write the telugu words in english it will take more alphabets.

Yeah I mentioned about that in my post...south indian languages are not easy to write in Latin script but Hindi and Urdu definitely are...Urdu urgently needs a change in script more than Hindi..because of some constraints it can't be written phonetically .

Thats the plan ....all the native scripts will die slow death. Internet is making it faster. People and todays kids are more comfortable with latin script even expressing the feeling in native language. Hindi, urdu are more verbal language now. i somehow like the way ShivSena imposed the use of marathi script through out the maharashtra. They did it correctly to save the language.

Let's just keep our emotions aside and think only from the point of view of a kid who has to take the pain of learning these different scripts..just go and ask a kid in your surroundings what they would say about my suggestion..I bet 9 out of 10 school going kids will tilt towards Latin script replacing local scripts...do you know Sanskrit inscriptions in north west Pakistan were once written in greek script ?(during asoka)..even Persian was written in Greek script...scripts are not languages..they are just symbols to read those languages..nothing wrong in choosing the easier and efficient one ..this also enables more people to learn reading and writing quickly and easily.

There is no reason for Hindi and other regional language speakers not to use the Devanagari and their respective scripts, even on computers, with the widespread appearance of transliteration software like Google Input, which allows one to type in the Roman alphabet and get that automatically converted to another script - Google Input is now embedded on many websites so one does not even need to switch between tabs.

We should stick with our traditional scripts since there is already a standardized spelling and written literature in these scripts; and transliteration into a new script would be a long and often arbitrary process especially since the Roman alphabet has only 26 letters. For many languages, switching to the Roman alphabet would often require extra symbols which requires special computing tools, basically defeating the point of switching from a technological perspective.

Most Indian languages have more than 40 sounds and individuals typing in the Roman alphabet transliterate these into the Roman alphabet very arbitrarily, making standardization difficult to enforce.

there was a stupid article on scroll.in some time ago too suggesting we should ditch Hindi for the latin script.. **** that. We need to preserve all our major scripts.
