Should Rajput Class Destroyers be Transferred to Vietnam and Philliphines

1st..as we are MTCR signed state,we can only deliver missiles that has range within 300km.
2nd..BRAHMOS is virtually impossible to stop bcoz of short reaction time, terrain hugging features and highly maneuverability.your logic of subsonic missile is better than supersonic missile is flawed.

Just curious, since Russia co-develop Brahmos with India, how many of this missile does Russia deploy with their Navy. Also, Brahmos does not have real terrain hugging capability like a Tomahawk missile. You should look it up what is real terrain hugging capability.

Go Educate yourself.

It has Terrain Hugging upto 10 Meters above Sea Level.

currently Russia does not deploy Brahmos missiles but have plans in the near future also India & Russia have plans to sell them to friendly countries also.

i think thats terrain hugging..

" The Russian Amur-class submarines are BrahMos missile capable from its inception. In fact, Russia has already deployed the BrahMos missile in the Amur-class submarines."

Even India can send a missile to that height. But a satellite is not as big as a 100km*100km target region of AgniV. You want to hit a satellite, you'll have to find it first, then lock the specific orbit of an 7km per second object with an accuracy of centimeter level in the space.

Too intercept a 4000km balastic missile is even more tricky, because it's track is harder to forecast than any satellite. But we did it in the space.

AMD is not a joke,There are only two operational systems in the world that can intercept ICBMs Russian A-35 anti-ballistic missile system & U.S. Ground-Based Midcourse Defense . The rest systems with other countries are yet to be fully operational & reliable including that of China. India also have an ongoing successful AMD progamme. Swordfish is the target acquisition and fire control radar for the Indian BMD system. The LRTR currently has a range of 1500Km and can spot objects as small as a cricket ball. But any country with successful ICBM or LRBM technology can develop ASAT weapons easily.

How about Russia has something better? Brahmos remind me of how China help Pakistan create JF-17. China won't use it because it has something better. On the other hand, Russia has not use for Brahmos because its base on an existing old technology missile that they already have, make slight improvement on it and sell it to India. And you guys all know about that missile. Russians have something better than Brahmos.

Sorry to pop all your bubbles and Brahmos is base on old technology that Russia has since 1999.

Actually, only the US has mid course defense system. The A-35 is such an old system that rely on a nuke to blow up the incoming missle. In my view, China is a bigger threat than Russia as they had tested a mid-course KKV. However, the parameters of this test is so unknown that its questionable China is close to deploy such a system.

there are reports that Russia will deploy them on Gorshkov class frigate and Amur class submarines.some suggests they already deployed them.so,please don't compare currently best supersonic cruise missile with your J(unk)F-17..

and any new technology is based on old technology..your comments look like sour grapes expression to me..

Russians are Eagerly Waiting for the Hypersonic Brahmos at Mach 7 for arming their Gorshkov Class Frigates by 2015.

yes, i agree that the missile is based on older Russian technology (Yakhont missile) but it has much improvements in it done by India, According to BrahMos managing co-director Alexander Maksichev, "launcher and control system of the missile are made by Indian partners, while Russian party – NPO Mashinostroyenie - is responsible for missile part". It is also the world's fastest cruise missile. As far as the question of why Russia not using it is concerned it may be because of huge cost associated with each missile. If you want to read more about Brahmos pls see the link

1st of all indians are not retiring the rajput in near future
The Indian Navy is planning to upgrade the propulsion of the Rajput class ships with indigenously developed Kaveri Marine Gas Turbine (KMGT) engine, The Gas Turbine Research Establishment of DRDO has been developing this engine which is currently in testing phase

From a neutral point to say no doubt china is advance than india in military capabilities because your more bigger economy & more investment in R&D or reverse engineering. but you cant under estimate the capabilities of sophisticated system like Brahamos & Agni 5. And a reliable Chinese AMD system is a distant dream in the years to come

A supersonic cruise missile means it is not stealth. The heat and Infrared signal gives it away to the enemy. At the same time, the giant size and weight of the missile makes impossible to out run smaller but smarter SAMs.

That's why the US and China don't deploy supersonic cruise missiles on their ships. Sub-sonic cruise missiles have much longer attack range and is more stealth if flying right about the sea.

For supersonic missiles like Bramoth, if it tries do the same, the air friction will cut short it's already shortened range greatly. But if the Bramoth choose the fly high route, it will be captured by the radar soon after launch and being intercepted by a SAM in the middle of the way.

Can a SAM intercept a supersonic missile ? The thing isn't really humongous, you know...Managing to get a lock on it would be a miraculous feat.

Handing over such potent weapons is sure to be looked upon provocatively and it is not cler whether the VN and PNZ are able to opiate such large and capable ships. Not even the Pakistani navy operates a destroyer and the PakN is larger than the VN and PN.

are the retirement plans of Rajput class destroyers certain or we will use it at least for a decade more after some refit or sorts?
