Even MMS wanted a reconciliation with India.
I have heard that Afghan Taliban has promised safety to India nationals in Kandahar and Helmand.

If they are ready to go with democratic process of election then they can reconcile..not on terms with religious and ideological fanaticism.

In a perfect world- HELL NO! But we all know that's not the world we live in. Tbh I don't think it matters much whether India takes the deal with the Taliban or not as India hasn't got "boots on the ground" and decisions are made not involving India. Of course India's logical stance is/should be on the side of Afghan democracy and Afghan people and naturally against the Taliban SCUM but post 2014 is this position going to be tenable? The sad fact is India needs, for her own security, to be on the winning side otherwise this could massively blow back on India. It's okay for US/UK/France/NATO/ISAF they can retreat with a good feeling in their hearts, seperated by Oceans and thousands of miles from the mess they have made but clearly India doesn't have this luxury not to mention we all know who Pakistan has bet on and with ISAF out the picture they are going to get their tentacles back into the mix.

When you think about it, it is an incredibly hard position for India finds herself. Rock and hard place don't even half cover it. There are some dark and difficult days to come.

If it is an Afghan led process Yes, else go Northern Alliance.

Northern Alliance has historically been very close to us and we should be by their side , at the same time they do not represent the (pashtun) majority , Taliban need to be accommodated in the new setup post 2014 or whenever the US/NATO leave Afghanistan ....

There are no permanent enemies or friends, If Taliban are ready to mend their ways we can be flexible to negotiate with them too

Only one thing is positive is that even Taliban thinks that India can't be completely expelled from Afghanistan.

First,NATO needs to eliminate the Taliban leadership which lives under Pakistani protection in Quetta, much like Bin Laden did in Abbotabad. Once Mullah Omar is dead, then the movement will wither. THEN negotiate with the Taliban when they are weak and demoralized.

Never Happens ! Another person will take charge and continue to do the same ... It must be foolish to think that the death of OBL had any effect on Al Qaeda ...

which Taliban are they talkign about? The one in Afghanistan or the TTP, Pakistani controlled Taliban?
