Shocked to see my photograph being misused, says Heidi Levine on Pakistan's Gaza lie at United Nations
Pakistan's brazen lie at the United Nations by passing off a Gaza victim's photograph as that from Kashmir has not only angered India but also pained the photographer Heidi Levine.

“I was shocked to see my photograph being misused, pained to see such thing, Levine told WION in an exclusive conversation on Monday.
"
Pakistan should apologise to the victim, Rawya abu Jom’a as it has compromised her dignity,” Levine told WION.

On Sunday, Pakistan's to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi showed 2014 Gaza war victim's photograph as an image of Indian atrocities at the UN General Assembly.

Lodhi showed the photograph terming it as the face of "Indian democracy".

Lodhi was trying to counter Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's blistering attack on Pakistan hours earlier. Swaraj had described Pakistan as a "pre-eminent export factory for terror".

Exercising the right of reply, Lodhi claimed that Swaraj was "indulging in an orgy of slander against Pakistan".

On Monday, exercising right to reply, India hit back at Pakistan for using the wrong image.

“The Permanent Representative of Pakistan misled this Assembly by displaying this picture to spread falsehood about India. A fake picture to push a completely false narrative,” New Delhi's said at the United Nations.

In reply to Pakistan's fake photo, India on Monday presented the photograph of Lt Umar Faiyaz, the young army officer who was brutally murdered in May earlier this year.

“This is true picture. It portrays a hasrh and tragic reality,” India's Paulomi Tripathi said.

The two nations have been embroiled in a conflict over the region of Kashmir since India and Pakistan gained independence from Britain in 1947. Since then, three wars have been fought in addition to clashes and border skirmishes.

The young woman in question, however, is actually a Gazan citizen, reportedly injured by Israeli air raids in 2014. The photo was taken by award-winning photojournalist Heidi Levine in a hospital in Gaza, of then 17-year-old Rawya abu Jom'a.

Lodhi made the goof in the midst of a war of words between India and Pakistan at the UN General Assembly this week.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday, accusing India of brutality against the Kashmiri people. He called for the UN to appoint a special enjoy for the region.

"Pakistan demands an international investigation into India’s crimes in Kashmir," he said. "We ask that the United Nations Secretary-General and the High Commissioner for Human Rights send an inquiry Commission to occupied Kashmir to verify the nature and extent of India’s human rights violations, secure the punishment of those responsible and provide justice and relief to the victims."

Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj fired back in her speech to the body.

"India and Pakistan became free within hours of each other. Why is it that today, India is a recognized IT superpower in the world, and Pakistan is recognized only as the preeminent export factory for terror?" She asked.

Dr. Maleeha Lodhi was exercising her "Right of Reply" following India's accusations. "India's brutal occupation of Kashmir has killed over 100,000 innocent Kashmiris. Today, that campaign of brutality continues, including the shooting and blinding of innocent Kashmiri children with pellet guns. Yet, every day, these Kashmiri children, women and youth come out on the streets to demand that India get out of occupied Kashmir."

She held up the photograph and said, "This is the face of democracy."

The faces are same, nationalities are different. Message has been received across the world. The Pakistani assault was so ferocious that Indians have nothing to find solace but in picture. Heck, Pakistanis went straight into Gujarat - taking dig at Modi...

RSS and bakhts are unhappy, of course. Looks like they are again poking Pakistan to show some real deal, again. This time, it will be human shield and Indian army chief endorsing it.

. . .
So what is Heidi being so anti Israel about it?

The world has largely forgotten about Palestinians till Indians started lobbying against Israel

. . .
Why should we bring fake pics when millions available online another Indian joke
