Shoaib Akhtar came back to cricket with a bang!

He took four wickets in the 20:20 for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Delhi Daredevils and won the MoM award!

When commentator and Pakistani cricketer asked if he had done it to prove a point, he gave a diplomatic answer.

He seems to have changed!

Salman Butt also gave a great performance.

well, i hope he said something good. but pakistan doesn't need trash, even if it is one man's treasure.

Shoib is no doubt, a talented player, capable to hew any match with markble unexpected breakthrough!
Wish he must be good sportsman with spirit, too and avoid to be controversial.
Being an international cricket figure he has to assured the respects full identity for Pakistan:pakistan:

apart from Pakistani team and his nation he can play good for any team or nation, when it comes to playing for his nation he always conveniently gets injuries, this is the nation who gave him his identity and whatever place he has, so i say **** him (kindly excuse my language) may his career rot in hell

Agree to some extent with Baqai , but the problem lies with BCCP not with Shoaib. Nobody has ever denied that he is unruly and indisciplined. I blame the Board for firstly having been very lenient with him and giving him the impression that he is the Blue eyed Boy of the team and can get away with murder. This has led us to this state where he is so out of hand that people are having to put him down for even minor offenses. I strongly disagree with the Board,s regulations that they can not be criticized. I think it is undemocratic and leads to anarchy which our board is famous for. So in short a lot of the blame lies on the BCCP as well. If they had disciplined him before he got out of hand this situation would not have arisen.

I think what Shoaib has always desired the most is mass adoration from the masses and recognition as a superstar. Given the popular culture that is developing in India these days, he may very well get his wish; provided of course he keeps his game up.

I'd like to see if his behavior changes at all now that he's being treated like a superstar with a lot of attention and a large paycheck.

Not sure if the above is entirely correct. In Pakistan, the crowds were/are crazy about the Pindi Express. His problem is his lack of discipline. Only time will prove whether he has turned a page or not.

Overall great effort by Shoaib! I am glad he is contributing positively to cricket outside of Pakistan.

They may have been crazy about the Pindi express, but he could never live the kind of flamboyant superstar lifestyle he desired openly in Pakistan.

What I want to see is that if the fulfillment of these desires serves as a positive reinforcement to his work ethic.

No compromise even if Shoaib performs well: Nasim Ashraf :frown:

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Naseem Ashraf on Wednesday made it clear that despite Shoaib Akhtar's good show in the Indian Premier League, there would not be any compromise on the matter of discipline when he returns home.

Akhtar, who picked four wickets in three overs on his debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday, is playing in India after the appellate tribunal suspended his five year ban for a month and will resume regular hearing into his appeal against the ban from June 4.

"As far as his ban is concerned he has to go through the entire legal process. The governing body meeting has again reiterated its zero tolerance policy with players who break rules and violate discipline. So even if Shoaib does well in the IPL it has nothing to do with his appeal hearing," Ashraf told reporters in Islamabad after the governing body meeting.

"The Board is firm there will be no compromise on discipline as a matter of policy. The appellate tribunal is an independent body which will hear Shoaib's appeal and give its decision and we have to justify the reasons for this ban on him," he said.

Before going to India, Ashraf also withdrew a 220 million rupees defamation suit against Shoaib for making allegations against him after the fast bowler made a public apology for his behaviour.
