Shiv Sena activists tear down posters of Kurbaan
Shiv Sena activists tore down poster the consider objectionable of upcoming Saif Ali Khan and Kareena flick Kurbaan in Mumbai. The posters feature the back of a topless Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.
India.com reported that the activists claimed that the posters were immoral and would corrupt the mind of children who live in the locality where they are displayed. Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab, also confirmed that the posters were torn at Mumbais Juhu circle saying that 'putting up such posters in public places where women and children roam is not acceptable.'
Producer Karan Johar, however gloated in all the promotion this was giving Kurbaan and wrote on his twitter blog, 'really excited about the Dharma departure into another terrain of cinema... please watch Kurbaan for its new syntax.'
The film releases worldwide on November 20th and is about a professor played by Kareena who marries another professor Saif Ali Khan and settles in the US only to discover that he is actually a mastermind terrorist who is trying to hijack and bomb an airplane.
The film is getting a lot of attention for containing much unwarranted nudity and sex. Defending the controversial poster Kareena said This shot of me in a backless posture and Saif with a wound on his chest tells so much about the film`s theme.'
Adding 'there is love, passion and violence - all combined in here and what better way than to show it through a single still? You too would agree that there is nothing sleazy or vulgar about it. Knowing the sensibilities of Karan Johar (producer) and Rensil D`Silva (director), that`s the least one could have expected.'
