From the city-states of Iraq, people spread in all directions, including the East. One group, that some call the Aryans, emerged on the steppes of Eurasia. They were mostly herders of animals and had little in the way of settled city areas.

I told ya, you 're not so smart and now we know why :P

be careful when you quote that btw.

depending on their ppolitical/religious affiliation, they will tear into you.
who???

.
Its easy to guess isnt it?
Dravidans were always more hard working and intelligent compared to some Iraqi nomads (who later settled in Steppes and called themselves Aryans).

@Armstrong - fyi

@Chronos - I think its because after loosing strongmen competitions and beauty pageants to us Aryans over and over and over again a certain South Indian sage by the name of Levina da Vinci convinced her people that focusing on studies could be better. She told them in a very eloquent way that the South Indians could never be the cool kid at school but they sure as heck could be the brightest one. :)

So whereas most South Indians are socially awkward nerds....they do have good jobs and a better salary ! :agree:

Too bad we Aryans will still outlast you guys because you know we're Perfection Incarnate ! :smokin:

Whereas you South Indians especially those like @levina apa from Mallu-ville are just copy-cats !

Do you know she even went ahead and had her skin bleached to look more like us ! :o:

Thank heaven I was there to stop her otherwise she would've become Levina Jackson !

You should be honored, may be you could teac your brothers about self-deiscipline, hard work and thrift the Eadt-asians are known for.

So many stereotypes.

I am pathologically ill-disciplined and a lazy couch potato !

NEW DELHI: JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav on Thursday made a sexist comment on south Indian women in Rajya Sabha, leaving some male members split their sides with laughter and women parliamentarians dumbstruck.

During a debate on the government's Insurance Bill, the JD(U) president started rambling about the Indian obsession with fair skin. "Your god is dark like Ravi Shankar Prasad (present in the House), but your matrimonial ads insist on white-skinned brides," he said.

He then went on to discuss the complexion of south Indian women and said, "The women of the south are dark but they are as beautiful as their bodies...We don't see it here. They know dance." Several male members were seen bursting into laughter at his crass comment.

Yadav also mentioned filmmaker Leslee Udwin whose documentary 'India's Daughter' included an interview of one of the rapists of the December 16 gang-rape. "She must have got permissions easily because of her white skin," he said.

Yadav justified his statement by saying there was no harm in having a non-serious discussion when DMK MP Kanimozhi objected to his remark and asked him to focus on the topic of the discussion.

Sharad Yadav continues sexist rant, tells Smriti Irani: 'I know what you are'

NEW DELHI: Under attack for his recent sexist remarks on skin color of south Indian women, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Monday remained unapologetic and made a sexist ad hominem directly aimed at HRD minister Smriti Irani in Parliament.

Yadav raked up the issue in Parliament on Monday again, saying he was ready for a debate on the issue.

"What have I said ... 'saanvli' (dark complexioned) women are more in number in India, they are more in number the world over. I am ready to debate with anyone on the struggle of (Ram Manohar) Lohia and others for them," he said in the Rajya Sabha.

As Yadav explained his position on the issue, he was interrupted by both treasury and opposition members including HRD minister Smriti Irani.

"I appeal to the gentleman (Yadav) not to make comments on colour of skin of women in this manner. Very wrong message is going," she said

This infuriated Yadav, who, in turn, hit out at Irani, saying, "I know what you are." His comments stunned other leaders and Irani herself.

Earlier Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad raised the issue in the House and asked the JD(U) leader to withdraw his comments.

Prasad said: "Comments were made on south Indian women, I was also mentioned, I remained quiet. I want to keep myself away from that comment."

"I completely disagree with the comment. Ask the member to withdraw the comment," he urged the chair.

Trying to clarify, Yadav said his comments were misinterpreted: "There are more dusky women in India and in the world... I can discuss the issue with anyone, we are in favour of Indian culture."

Deputy chairman PJ Kurien said he would not allow a discussion on the issue.

"White complexion or dark complexion, it is all the same, I am not allowing a discussion on this," Kurien said.

Leader of opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad opined that the issue should not be discussed as it will get more complicated.

Yadav, however, said he was ready to participate in a discussion.

"There has been a long struggle against discrimination based on colour... I am ready to participate in a debate any time," said Yadav.

he was actually defending dark skinned people.. but you know some friends who you want be on the other side during arguments than support you? he is like that.

.
kerala people are generally hard working and law abiding people than UP and biharis...
btw most south Indians cannot compete with north Indian in enterprenureship... north Indians thrive on being chaotic, being different... south India.. continuation, symmetry...

no wonder as a society, south India prospered... they are more social people. Individually however a north Indian is much more friendly/social. (friendship/dostiyari is alien concept in south India)

I don't know man. I see it as because of the earlier policies put in place.

Gujarat is prosperous too.

he was actually defending dark skinned people.. but you know some friends who you want be on the other side during arguments than support you? he is like that.

I got that.

I think since he is really rough around the edges in terms of personality, he might be rubbing people the wrong way.

Defending? I'd take that with a pinch of salt. It's like saying hey you're fat but you got good personality to make up for your looks.

Joke is not on him, but the people electing the guy :D
At least he didn't harm anyone. I'd prefer a politician who talks about looks over one who talks about gharwapsi n shit.

lolz..
basically he is dismissive of high class women, says such 'fair skinned' women(who are in power) cannot be representitive of ordinary Indian dark skinned women...
but then goes on and on... and makes it awkward.. like your uncle who you rather want shut his mouth when your friends come your home.

He is generally a nice guy otherwise.

precise example.

basically he is dismissive of high class women, says such 'fair skinned' women(who are in power) cannot be representitive of ordinary Indian dark skinned women...

he is just a dehati ( backward kind of villager ).

I just googled him, he's not dark skinned himself. I'm afraid he implied "something" when he said that.

I agree. Its the "run on" that did him in.

He is a healthy red blooded sexual Indian male with a healthy sexual appetitte for dusky womandom. May his tribe prosper.

We are becoming way too politically correct (not in our civilizational genes) and way too prudish (again, something we are not hardwire for) for our own good.

I blame militant Indian femisnists for this sorry state of affairs. They are way too agressive, and way too loud, and one gets so put off by them that one just shuts up and has a mental cold shower in the hope that she would finally just shut up.

you should see his comments in the context of his own belief and what he said earlier. He basically holds rich/successful women in contempt, because he is a mass leader, he thinks he is better representitive of Indian ordinary dark skinned women than 'white skinned' women who might have come via priviledge.
Its more to do with class division(high class vs low class) than skin color... which is why he said to smriti irani.. 'we know your type of people'.

I actually do agree with Hinduguy here.

I did listen to his speech. He was making a point about india obsessing about fair skin.

But then he got off track. As Hinduguy said. he is that drunk uncle at your party.

Dudes,

I have seen that Rajayasabha session. He did not intend any disrespect towards women or dark skinned people. He was merely saying that dark is also beautiful and no need to run after fair things only. He could not articulate the right sentences or i should rather say, he could not express it in parliamentary language.

I did not feel any thing wrong with his intentions or words. For those who think this is highly in appropriate or insulting to women, please watch that 5 mins video available on youtube. See for your self and decide before bombarding with so called civilized comments.

I am more disappointed with reaction from Smiriti Irani. She made it a political issue out of it combining it with women dignity. I am not sure if she wanted to score some cheap points against him or it is her inability to think rationally.

I didn't answer this because I considered this too stereotypey.

But I think Iam being too politically correct.
