Classically, an invading army leaves in its wake a generation of bastards.

The first Muslims in Kerala actually came as traders of the spice trade. The Arabs intermarried with the locals. This was just 100 years or so after the founding of Islam.

This can be seen in Sri Lanka as well with the Muslim population there.
