If you're talking about the Dhanush, it was a faulty designed of the barrel which they corrected soon after but if it is about the M777, it wasn't about the an oversized shell but they used an outdated ammunition which likely caused the barrel burstMaybe the Indians have this problem of oversizing their weapons ... to fill some sort of a gap .... not long ago they blew up the barrel of a gun due to an oversized shell and now the missile got stuck ...
