He was security guard and cracked IAS exam ! That is not less than “Mangalyaan” for a poor chap. Jothi Ranjan Bagarti is from Orissa and has been security guard for the last 14 years. His first attempt for IAS was 10 years ago and he achieved the milestone this year with 2 years of continuous preparation and hard work.He has been posted at Madurai for training

BTW isn't 28 years the upper limit of age in the IAS exam? Has he been a security guard since his early teens?

It is 32 years and max. 6 attempts for General Category.

35 years and 9 attempts for OBC

and 37 and unlimited attemptd for SC/ST

Being a security guard, raising a family, preparing for IAS and clearing it...is a mean achievement overall. No bollywood script but reality, and kudos to him.
