Technically Bangladesh is now a lower middle income country, under same classification that India is.

India still possess the largest number of multidimensional poor and the largest number of modern slaves in the world.

Means nothing if you dont account for the numbers in per capita terms. Bangladesh is way worse than India when you do that. I mean if we are 8 times bigger than you by population and have 5 times the number of poor....who is technically the poorer country?

I think BD willfully depressed per capita gdp figure and ppp multiplier for international trade and loan benefit.You Know BD is still on LDC.I have read an article some days ago which says that BD need to borrow large amount of money quickly for infrastructure development as our graduation to lower middle income catagory will increases the interest rate.So it is the last chance of BD to borrow money at lower interest.Even after GDP base upgradation we still using 2005-2006 base year,while India is using 2010-2011 for a long times.All these are lowering our apparent size of economy.I think if you compare India and BD in same matrices in all accounts,we are either at per with india in income or have crossed already.

Even after all these discrepancy BD's per capita income is 80 percent of India.

Actually, yes, that may be the reason. Otherwise, World Bank has already classified Bangladesh as a lower middle income country.

But we won't follow your way by raising defense budget as rivalry.. we're investing in R&D more and more for self-reliance.. it will give us reduction in defense budget with better quality... more than 4000 (MSc, PhD and DSc) Myanmar experts in academic filed have graduated from various Russian universities. Around 2000 Myanmar students are currently studying in Russia including over 100 PhD and D.Sc candidates , Thousands of Msc in various fields.. we are sending around 500 officers to Russia as scholars.. we already invested around 100M USD for these.. but it has more advantage than 1 B USD importing arms..

we got 3 officers who got their doctorate (Doctor of Science , D.Sc) form Russian Famous Universities like MAI for this year...

Defence Budget has nothing todo with yours. There will never be hostilities from Bangladesh as current policy. You dont need to get concerned nor worried. Leave us alone, mind your your development SIR.

Bangladesh doesn't have a middle class, they only have a small number of rich and a huge number of poor (that explains their 2 per 1000 personal car). So the handful of rich with internet connections cook up these stories of good life in Bangladesh, but the voiceless majority of poor know the truth.

Dont you feel, you need to study more on Bangladesh? How can any country doesn't have a middle class people. Our countries main driving force for Brand, Opinion Maker is the middle class. Because of their strong position, Jamaat still have the weaker position in Politics.

I could not quite agree with you. BD is still an underdeveloped country which the courteous UN call now an LDC. BD per capita GDP being somewhere $1080.00 only how can we claim that we are a LOWER middle income country. It is probably $4000 per capita GDP that makes a country that.

Even if the economy develops by 6% per anum it will take another 12 years to double the economy. It means, our per capita GDP will be around $2200 in 2027, whatever the PM claims. However, I must agree that she is trying her best to build a strong physical infrastructure, which will support to raise the rate of GDP increase, say, 7.5% from today`s 6%..

I am here to support my friend @Aung Zaya from our friendly country and pointing out he fact that the actual budget for military is much lower than what was quoted here.

4000 dollar is very close to upper middle income country by world bank classification.They classify lower income below 1025 dollar,lower middle income 1026 to 4125 dollar and upper middle income is 4126 to 12735 usd.So according to WB Bangladesh just entered into lower middle income category.

BD GDP capita has hit 1400 dollars and the GDP growth will rise from the current 7% to 8-9%, as the large infrastructure projects are completed in the next 2-7 years time.

BD is only racing with Sri Lanka in the Sub-Continent as India is simply for match for it's powerhouse economy.
