Scania inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India, an initial investment of nearly € 30 million. The facility in Narasapura, near Bangalore, will have an annual capacity for approximately 2,500 trucks and 1,000 inter-city coaches.
“This marks the beginning of a new era for us in India, and it is our largest industrial footprint in Asia so far,” Scania’s President and CEO Martin Lundstedt said at the inauguration, which was attended by more than 80 media representatives. “The facility is important for Scania in the Indian market but also in a global perspective since we foresee that it will also supply vehicles to other parts of the world.”
