SC moved for referendum on presidential form of govt

.
Diversity ka president sa koi relation nhi ha. In parliamentary system executive branch and legislative branch both is parliament.
Pakistan is not a homogeneous society to have a presidential system of governance

.
Iska homogeneous honay ya na honey sa koi taluq nhi ha. Is system main cities directly elected mayors ka under hongi provinces directly elected governors and country directly elected president. National assembly main seats population k hisab sa hongi and Senate main tamam provinces ki equal. Province and city level pa bhi assemblies hongi. Is type k system sa ziada tar political problems solve hojayin gi
You understand politics as her pher of money. Governance is something else. People are better off with a parliamentarian system as envisioned by the founders of the country

.
Constitution main president and governor ka election method amend krna ha and ministers ko khatam krna ha and powerful local government banani ha. Imran Khan na PM bannay sa pehlay kaha tha presidential system pasand ha mujhay. Apni pasand ka system laye to kitna acha ha. In this type of system celebraties like Afridi have more chances of reaching highest posts than politicians
Mr. Niazis fascination with absolute power in Pakistan will remain just that like the rest of his dreams.

Pakistan has too deep rooted concept of provincialism and even Mr. Niazi exploits that in KPK to cling to power there.

Politics is a popularity contest in Pakistan anyhow with less than 50 percent of registered voters going to the polls.

.
Parliamentary system main absolute power hoti ha presidential system main nhi. Imran Khan 2/3 majority na honay k bawajod Trump sa ziada powerful ha. Provinces ki apni elahda government hogi. Ziada powers city and province governments k pass hoti Hain. Federal to bas foreign policy defense waghera. Agar province main aysa system ho aur federal main parliamentary to wo bhi thek ha.
jo hai isko sekh lo or kaam chalao. gaon me beth kar mulk nahi chalte

.
Kam chal rha ha. But is system main behtari ki zarorat. Beshak president na banao Punjab ka governor ka to direct election karwa do.
Punjab is ruled directly from Islamabad anyhow. You can always take to the streets atop containers to demand governer Raj

. . .
Kuch sabit krnay ki zarorat hi nhi Sara Jahan janta. Yeh to aysay hi ha keh main kisi sa kahon saboot do tum zinda ho.
So you just want to usurp federal territories in Punjab? What about the South Punjab province?

.
Kuch ghatya log. Ghar main diwar banwana chahtay Hain ham Kya keh sktay Hain.
Bas Sindh me bhi yehi log hain jo ek sindhi maa ko uske karachi wale bache se door rakhna chahte hai.
This is why Presidential system won't work

Why everything that is good for country is forbidden in pakistan?

Because it was made forbidden by the founding fathers, the constituent assembly, the constitution itself, the objectives resolution, the preamble, half the Supreme Court judgments themselves. The Supreme Court is not empowered to enact such a change and according to the parliament and the Supreme Court, neither is the parliament because the parliament cannot amend nor legislate on matters relating to the Preamble and the Objectives resolution, the former is the soul of the Constitution and the latter is so powerful that even dictators like Ayub and Zia had to create a form of parliamentary system whereas by the time Musharraf came to power, he could do nothing apart from making it a semi-presidential constitution and this was also brought forth to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court stated that even in a Semi-Presidential system, the power is with the Parliament thus the objective of a parliamentary democracy in the Preamble and the Objective Resolution is secured...

By all means lets have the parliament free itself from the shackles of the Preamble and the Objectives Resolution however that will open a can of worms that will not be looked smilingly upon by our religious section.

Land reforms to end feudalism, elevation of small cities, decreasing size of big cities, and nationwide transport system is a must and should be in our longterm goals.
There appears to be some confusion on what a Presidential system would entail.

I don't see it as being as dramatic a change as is being suggested. Let's assume this petition is successful and the court says that a referendum on changing to a Presidential system is constitutional and a referendum is approved in a joint sitting of parliament and it is held successfully - what then?

Yes, Pakistanis will be able to directly elect the President, but legislation will still have to go through the National Assembly and Senate, which will continue to directly elect MNA's in the same fashion as now. A President would still need the support of a majority in the National Assembly and Senate to pass a budget, laws on reforming the bureaucracy etc. Additionally, moving to a Presidential system would not do anything to the 18th Amendment, which devolves various powers to the provincial governments and gives them a greater share in revenues.

So while the powers would shift from the Prime Minister to the President, and the President would be directly elected, I don't see it resulting in any major tangible change in how the country is governed.

.
Interesting. Not sure how it will make any difference.

You will still have to fight elections, opposition parties and hundreds of parliamentarians.
It can make a difference as u can form cabinet of technocrats whereas parliament will remain limited to law making.

A president has more powers and options to get the job done in presedential democracy

I think that is a more workable proposal, that legislators in the National Assembly should be restricted to legislation rather than becoming Ministers.

Amending the constitution to bar 'dual roles' (Legislator as well as Minister) would be preferable, as is the case in the US. Senators or Congressmen/women that are chosen by the US President to become the equivalent of Ministers leave their elected positions which are filled by other candidates.

Pakistan has powerful military, just couple of days ago Al-Jazera English do some report about many abduction happening in Pakistan, some of them targeted journalist. Many analyst accuse it is done by Pakistan military.

Pakistan need strong civilian leader to bring military to its suitable place which is to defend the country militarily from foreign forces, and let domestic security to be handled by police. Having a Presidential system is one of the answer to solve this problem.

It has been several weeks since one prominent journalist is abducted in Pakistan.
