Saudi Arabia Eager to Replace Iran
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal yesterday, February 14, 2008. In Riyadh, they are strongly concerned about the large-scale cooperation of Russia and Iran, particularly the nuclear one.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal stayed in Moscow only for a few hours yesterday, and the meeting with President Vladimir Putin took most of his visit. The prince delivered to Putin a personal letter of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, who initiated negotiations.

The sources say the letter describes Riyadh’s evaluation of the Middle East situation. But Saud Al-Faisal evidently passed the most vital message by word of mouth. In Saudi Arabia, they are sure that Iran’s policy will shatter the region in future and the helping hand of Moscow is needed to prevent it.

Riyadh elaborated a plan to save the region from the so-called Iranian threat, where it is to play the key role in tandem with Moscow. So, the Saudi guest endeavored to persuade the Kremlin that stronger Iran would disbalance the Middle East. In return to winding up Russia’s-Iranian contracts, Riyadh promised to buy Russia’s weapons at large, replacing Iran as its partner in military and technical field.

Saudi Arabia won’t confine to the military deals. The minister urged Moscow to conclude a big agreement of bilateral cooperation, fueling mutual turnover and investments to $50 billion in the nearest five years.

I personally feel that this has been a move by US under cover of Saudis. Very very likely.
No.1 To dismantle the on going threat of Iran Nukes
No.2 To issolate Iran from its back bone
No.3 To shatter the upcoming block of Iran, Russia, Pakistan and China.
No.4 Create disturbance with in the islamic world.
No.5 To keep Saudis in illusion for the next 50 years of threat from one muslim state or another.
No.6 To jeopardize the long term economic growth of Russians as if in case they tend to cooperate with Saudis. US might be able to be at better position to dictate there own terms.

All said and done, its USA who has played its card not Russians. Now its upto Russians how they will play? Russians already offered massive deals during Putins visit on which Americans were pretty disturbed. I think Russians would be better off cooperating with both countries at defence levels. And on the other side, Iranians would also be required to win the good grace of Saudis and form and alliance with them rather confront them.

This proves there is no such thing as the "ummah" and there never can be one.

Yeah on the government level there is no such thing as Ummah but on the level or people there is.

When pakistan was attacked in 1965.Indonesians burnt down Indian consulate.
When Afghanistan was attacked by soviets 60,000 people from 70 nationalities participated in the jihad.
In Iraq right now there are many foreign fighters.

Yes, individual Muslims do participate in wars involving foreign Muslim countries, but what purpose does it serve? Imagine an Irani shia going to Iraq to plant a bomb in Baghdad to kill some Sunnis. How is that helping anyone? Fellow Muslim is killing fellow Muslim. Same story in Afghanistan.

This isn't a religious fight, this is a political fight and governments use brainwashed men who think they will go to heaven and get 72 virgins to create chaos in other Muslim countries. In Afghanistan the enemy was 1 and the Muslims were united, in modern wars however Muslims are divided. Half want something, and the other half want something else.

Even Chechnya defeated the mighty Russian army with it's simple AK-47s because they were united, and the cause was noble. But the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are only hurting Muslims, and violence should be given up.

Saudi's seem to be out of their ******* mind. They are in reality supporting the jewish cause against a muslim one because that muslim state happens to be shia.:hitwall: When will the muslims ever gonna learn to put aside their differences based on groups and start being one.

Hi,

Please understand that saudi arabia is for the saudis and all the resources that they have are for their personal use. So, howsoever they chose to use their money and resources, it is their choice. I am greatful for all the help we got from them over the years.
